Here they are. Now get to work. We want these bills killed now OR we want immediate hearings. This must be nipped in the bud (forgive the pun). SB 616, 617 & 618 will eviscerate the MI Med MJ program. We will lose what we fought so hard to win if we don’t rise up enmass and tell these old white guys that we are mad as hell and we are not going to be kicked around anymore.

Requires prescription rather than recommendation. Only FDA approved drugs may be prescribed so this means there will be NO doctor certifications. Program is dead.

Requires medical mj be distributed exclusively by pharmacies. Pharmacies may only dispense FDA approved drugs so this means there will be NO legal source of medicine. Program is dead.

Stipulates the medical marijuana may be grown only by a maximum of 10 farms. That means patients and caregivers can no longer cultivate medicine. Program as designed and approved by voters is dead. Coincidentally, Senator Kuiper’s family business is a large plant nursery in Holland. Perhaps we misread him all along. He’s not opposed to med mj per se, just doesn’t want any competition. The Kuiper’s family—between the various brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews involved in the plant nursery business--could suck up 5 of the 10 licenses on their own.

Patients will no longer be allowed to possess 2.5 oz of medicine. Instead, they can only possess medicine which has been dispensed by a pharmacy and pharmacies are prohibited by federal law from dispensing any medical marijuana at all.

I am ashamed to learn that my own Senator, Ron Jelinek, is a co-sponsor of this bill. I will be visiting Mr. Jelinek’s office next week.

Never go to bed angry. I’ll be up all night tonight.

This would be the most

This would be the most effective tact. Call it the Kuipers Boycott. If someone supports Kuipers and his efforts, they will not get our business. Instead they will get phone calls, faxes, emails, and letters daily until they publicly renounce their support for Kuipers (at least on this bill).

Let's start a co-op in Holland

I say we have some people open a medical marijuana co-op in this asshole's backyard. Maybe draw up some legislation making marijuana busts a lowest priority for the Holland police department?

Or how about this... Get as many Holland citizens as possible signed up as medical marijuana patients. We could call this new drive the Kuipers Initiative! CCC is coming to Kalamazoo June 20th!

What upsets me the most over this b.s. is that our government should be focusing its limited resources on more pressing issues that concern our state and country. Mr. Kuipers, thanks for wasting taxpayer dollars on this worthless and unethical bill.

I highly suggest that we as a community not provide our government with additional taxes as long as money is being wasted on marijuana busts.

It's time to descend on Lansing

When can we all go sit outside the office of the "lead numbskull" Kuipers?

PLEASE organize an event like the one most of you turned in your applications that rainy day in April to the MDCH.

I still am patiently waiting for my card from the MDCH and I know my caregiver is waiting as well...

These idiots in Lansing need to be messed with in massive proportions...(I had to delete the cuss word I had originally put in "messed"'s place...LOL!

Take care,

this was sent to me today

Dear Mr. Redden:

Thank you for your emails with regard to the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act and Senate Bills 616-618. I appreciate the time that you have taken to share your concerns with me.

Please know that these bills do nothing to ban the use and cultivation of marijuana for specified medical conditions as provided for in Proposal 1. Rather, these bills would provide some oversight on entities growing and dispensing medical marijuana to help ensure that it is not done so for illegal purposes.

Use the media...

I would think that we could find a couple of news outlets that would be interested in the following:

"Coincidentally, Senator Kuiper’s family business is a large plant nursery in Holland. Perhaps we misread him all along. He’s not opposed to med mj per se, just doesn’t want any competition. The Kuiper’s family—between the various brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews involved in the plant nursery business--could suck up 5 of the 10 licenses on their own."

I imagine that they would see this like I do. A greedy politician trying to subvert the will of the people for his own personal gains. I think I will also start to look at who the campaign donors were for these folks for the past couple of elections....

The press has done significant coverage of the new MM laws, and if we can get them to continue the coverage of this new twist, I think we can shame these elected rodents back into the hole that they crawled out of.

We need to author legislation

We need to author legislation that authorizes COMPASSION CENETRS as they are doing in Rhode Island.
Here is a link to the bill in Rhode Island which is passing EASILY.

http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/billtext09/housetext09/h5359.pdf

The highlighted portions of the bill is what you should read. That is exactly what we need to do. Write our own dam bill and get it in the legislature.

The pharmacies got off their lazy asses and wrote one up and got Kuipers to sponsor it for them. We need to get off our cumulative lazy asses and do the same. Except the Kuipers part!... haha..:-)

The Compassion Center is a BETTER option than pharmacies of course. The dolts in the legislature do not have a clue about any of this for the most part. We HAVE to get a bill with that sort of language sponsored into a committee. :-)

Malamute's picture

Never know hypedup. It could

Never know hypedup. It could just sit there and die in committee as the VAST majority of bills do every session. Or, they could push it through for a floor vote in which it will probably die for lack of enough votes(75%).

BUT the key but is that they want to use this bill as a BASE for moving forward and only adjust and ammend THIS bill.

WE MUST AUTHOR LEGISLATION that we want.

We then must have it Sponsored in the legislatrure just as this bill is.

Ours will make sense, theirs will not.

Ours will have precedent from other states, theirs does not.

:-)

When will this bill be

When will this bill be decided on?

Malamute's picture

We need to author a competing

We need to author a competing bill to be proposed. I am guessing maybe the MPP guys can help us with this?

We need to add the language being added in the Rhode Island Legislation. Give them a competing option to the Kuipers bill. I am sure we can find someone to sponsor the bill. :-)

Senator Jelinek reply to SBs 616-618 opposition

Received the following reply this morning to my email sent to Senator Jelinek's (District 21) office:

Thank you for your email regarding Senate Bills 616, 617 and 618. These bills have been recently introduced and will undoubtedly undergo many changes as they make their way through the Committee process and onto the floor for full consideration by the Senate. Please be assured that I will carefully review them when they do and I will keep your opposition in mind at that time.

Sincerely,
Senator Ron Jelinek

term limited anyway. What do they care?

Kuipers is running for the US House of Reps. Jelinek is term limited out in 2010. I'm betting the majority of the gang of 7 are in similar circumstances. Now's the time to repay all those campaign donors like the MSP troopers union, the pharmaceutical companies and the Christaliban.

They can screw us over w/ impunity. The only way to stop them is by a howl of protest that shames them for what they are--old, rich guys that could give a flyin' you what about sick people who are too poor to write them checks anyway.

Contact info

Here is a list of contact info for sponsors of SB 616, 617 & 618. Do it today because no one else is going to do it for you. Or sit on your hands and watch our hard won victory snatched away from us again.

We once had a widely popular medical marijuana program in MI (1979 to 1982) and then saw it stolen away by federal intransigence. Now the enemies of the people are launching their assault from within the very halls of our own state government. It is imperative that we stop these 3 bills now, stop them dead in their tracks, before they start to gain any traction whatsoever.

Getting a compassionate use law passed was the easy part. Now we need to defend it.

I can't believe these internal terrorists(politicians) are trying to pull some dirty tricks to benefit themselves....How can they turn their back on the voters... the "We the people". Politicians are dirty, greedy things......they aren't even human. Trying to pull some crap monopolizing an industry they plan on throwing away. I don't think so. I hope that they see an uprising on the horizon. We will not accept this.....it is not an option.
