15 Year Study Says Run 5 Minutes/day To Live Better, Longer.

Recommended Posts

And it stated 50% reduction in cardiovascular disease in those who do, and a multitude of health benefits, some of which are not fully realized until you enter the 6th year of this daily habit of running for 5 minutes every day----but only 5 minutes.

Would someone who is not a cyber lame please post a link?

To me, the results of this study qualify as a major health finding similar to the findings of the resistance effects in cardiovascular matters of an aspirin a day regimen. This is HUGE, on the order of eating a bud a day off your cannnabis plants, or of drinking 8 oz of 100% pomegranate juice every day, both practices which showed 35% reductions in strokes in rats and humans.

Fantastically, you get the protective benefits of running 5 minutes a day even if you are obese, and even if your cig intake is 3 packs per day.

On avearge, the 5-minute-per-day-runners gained 36 months of life.  What will you grow and vape during your extra three years?

I believe it said "5-10" minutes.

But regardless, lets go with 8.

48 hours a year on the treadmill, times avg life span of 80 years equals 3890 hours(I know: baby years etc., play along!) which equals 162 days of your life spent on that dam treadmill running. So really,.. you are gaining 2 and half years because ya wasted half a year running. :-)

Heh.

I wore out a dozen treadmills ..... and now have runners knee, but my heart is healthy. Having good cardio fitness is priceless. It's a gift every day. I think swimming is a better choice than a treadmill. Or just going for a brisk walk. Win, win. My cannabis specialist, who is a holistic doctor, Dr. Meyer, reminds me that I need to step it up in intervals to get the most out of my workout. Walk, run for a minute, walk. Exercise bikes are good too. Intervals are key.

Progressive resistance (basically lifting weights) is far superior.  Running (jogging, esp. on pavement) could be the most destructive form of exercise known.  Good for your heart maybe (studies have shown excessive running poses a risk of heart disease) but bad for the rest of the body.  Weights: good for the whole body and good for the heart.
