Yeah. Those numbers are real.

A total of 111 people were killed by police in the United States in March of 2015. Since 1900, in the entire United Kingdom, 52 people have been killed by police.

Don't bother adjusting for population differences, or poverty, or mental illness, or anything else. The sheer fact that American police kill TWICE as many people per month as police have killed in the modern history of the United Kingdom is sick, preposterous, and alarming.

In March:

Police beat Phillip White to death in New Jersey. He was unarmed.

Police shot and killed Meagan Hockaday, a 26-year-old mother of three.

Police shot and killed Nicholas Thomas, an unarmed man on his job at Goodyear in metro Atlanta.

Police shot and killed Anthony Hill, an unarmed war veteran fighting through mental illness, in metro Atlanta.

I could tell 107 more of those stories.

This has to end.

England has been civilized for longer, and wasn't recently settled by a bunch of frontiersmen shooting animals for their pelts, and Indians for their land, and lately blacks and hispanics (any dark-skinned people) since we can't lock them all up at once.

It also helps that Bobbies aren't armed. Look at all the crap hanging from a US policeman's belt: cuffs, holster/pistol, extra ammo, ring for holding their night stick, Mace, perhaps a Taser, and a concealed hide-out pistol and knife. Their holster belt is so heavy it is connected with straps to the regular uniform belt. It takes two belts to hold all that stuff up.

Watch UK police apprehend someone. It looks very different than US cops. US cops are expected to run into a building with pistol drawn. UK cops seem more controlled and willing to take their time. US cops will just shoot you and be done with it.

Those shows are scripted. If they were real moonshiners the feds would have them locked up. My friends uncle cooked shine in Virginia and his protocol was always, "Pull up to the top of the hill, turn off your headlights, honk the horn twice and DON'T GET OUT OF THE CAR!

When will we take responsibility for our action of subscribing/paying for this type of irresponsible broadcasting?

Every minute a television is tuned in is a vote for more of the same.

As long as phony police abuse is embraced by television viewers, and those viewers purchase the products advertised, why would it stop.

South Carolina Officer Is Charged With Murder of Walter Scott

WASHINGTON — A white police officer in North Charleston, S.C., was charged with murder on Tuesday after a video surfaced showing him shooting in the back and killing an apparently unarmed black man while the man ran away.

Everything Police Said About Unarmed Man’s Death Before Video Surfaced Was a Lie

A police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina, was just charged with murder after a video was released that shows him executing an unarmed African American man. But now it is clear that Officer Michael T. Slager, his partner and the department all spun a web of lies about the victim in this case.

The U.S. Cannot Keep Track of Police Shootings

A year ago, in a bureaucratic shift that went unremarked in the somnolent days before Michael Brown was shot dead in Ferguson, Missouri, the US government admitted a disturbing failure. The top crime-data experts in Washington had determined that they could not properly count how many Americans die each year at the hands of police. So they stopped.

The move did not make headlines. Before Brown was killed, a major government effort to count people killed by police could be mothballed without anybody noticing. The program was never fully funded, and no one involved was accustomed to their technical daily work drawing a spotlight.

like investing in a company aimed to send you to prison.

watching shows casts votes, very closely watched ones in the multi billion dollar industry of television programming/advertising.

We probably should be watching more of what we would like to see, instead of what we hate to see right? like PBS, planet earth?

maybe invest in companies that aim to support our goals? as opposed to private prisons, big pharma, etc for the big returns?

Our 401 is flourishing in private prison profits, while we cry about our sons and daughters being locked up for no good reasons. If we didn't support this type activity, it might not be happening?

Not even taking into consideration that young girls will now be flipping up their blouses because they want to imitate art(?) but the actual support of these shows by good people being entertained.

Its not an overwhelming amount of bad humans behaving badly, its the majority of good ones doing nothing to stop it.

Just watching more of this story.  The dead person acted really foolishly as seen in the dashcam video but then the officer acted criminally in shooting and shooting and then shooting again - 8 times.

Many of these police shootings involve such overkill concerning the number of shots.  Any use of bullets does not appear to be justified here, but regardless, how many times would he have to be shot in order to stop him?  These guys often seem to just empty the clip when far fewer shots would have ended any threat to the officer.  Again in this case, there wasn't even an apparent threat, just a man running away from the law.
