Looking at this the police have killed just under half of all gun related deaths in america....Food for thought...

I think officer involved may not be all deaths. Technically it would be that officers are involved in 1/10th of the shootings.  Officer involved may be that the officer died also or they got shot and weren't the "offender".  It's really hard with data, you need to know ALL the specifics of each stat to make good statements, but you could be right if the officer involved all lead to deaths.

Per the Washington Post, 990 people were fatally shot by police in 2015

If that is the case, we still have the data that at least 990 were killed by police. and compared to all deaths,,, were still almost half way of all persons shot and killed.  I am thinking, that officer involved, counts as deaths, could be I am assuming... regardless it shows that police are out of hand.

See these are the ticking stats for 2016 and the # of people killed by cops is 216 while the 990 relates to another set of stats for last year.  If 10k were killed by guns last year it's 10% which is still high and unacceptable considering they can be prepared somewhat if they were given non lethal force, didn't do no knock raids, etc.etc.etc.  But with those stats now it's running about 10%.
