    Medical Marijuana Victory in Clarkston!

    By Michael Komorn

Komorn Law, PLLC and Attorney Allen Peisner are proud to report the well-deserved dismissal of all marihuana charges for a young man and his family. We are proud about this one for many reasons. It is well understood that this jurisdiction (Clarkston - in the heart of Oakland County) is not known to be friendly to medical marijuana patients. In fact, in this venue at the arraignment, this particular Judge as a matter of practice tells the presumptively innocent patient that they must decide if t

Don’t Beauregard that joint my friend.

    By Michael Komorn

Attorney General Jeff Sessions January 4th memo regarding marijuana enforcement is historic... and it should promptly be consigned to the dustbin of history. Mr. Session’s very name is a history lesson. Like his father and grandfather, he was named after Jefferson Davis, the first and only president of the Confederacy and P.G.T. Beauregard, the first prominent general of the Confederate Army. These were the men who lead the people of Alabama in their desire and purpose to join the “slave-holding

Michigan is licensing marijuana businesses but they still cant use banks.

    By Michael Komorn

LANSING, MI - It was chilly on the morning of Dec. 15., but Michigan State Police stood outside a state office building. They were there for safety, ready, as the Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation opened its doors, for some applicants to show up with the $6,000 application fee in cash.     Michigan lawmakers authorized a new medical marijuana industry in 2016, and the state began accepting applications to be a part of it on Dec. 15, 2017. But businesses seeking inclusion

Years of blood, sweat and tears to get Autism as a Qualifying Condition in the MMMA.

    By Michael Komorn

We have come a long way from 2013, when a parent submitted the first petition to add Autism as a qualifying condition within the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act. It was ultimately rejected due to a lack of any research materials and testimony. http://komornlaw.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Final_Determination_Autism_436526_7.pdf In 2014, a Parent tried to submit a new Autism petition with some testimony about physicians treating Autism patients who qualify due to also having epile

Senator Gillibrand slams Big Pharma on opioids and marijuana issues.

    By Michael Komorn

Senator Calls Out Big Pharma For Opposing Legal Marijuana Tom Angell A prominent Democratic U.S. senator is slamming pharmaceutical companies for opposing marijuana legalization. "To them it's competition for chronic pain, and that's outrageous because we don't have the crisis in people who take marijuana for chronic pain having overdose issues," Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York said. "It's not the same thing. It's not as highly addictive as o

In Michigan you hear one of the biggest adversities for patients and caregivers is that they are being precluded from arguing a medical marihuana defense before a jury. If you can get over the fact that, this

Hb4834

I am getting sick of the fear and stigma I am hearing over HB4834. I agree medical information should be kept confidential, however in circumstances where the sharing of our information is beneficial to us as patients should be permitted. We are protected to grow and consume cannabis by state law. I personally don't care if any police officer knows I am a medical patient. That is not something I should be afraid to share or ashamed of. That is part of the problem, to many people care to much abo

Member Of Our Community John Wells, Loses Everything To A Tragic Fire

John Wells suffered a house fire last Tuesday. He and his wife and their young daughter have lost everything.   The fire was started within their refrigerator. They have little support and are truly in need of help, living out of their fifth wheel behind the burned out hulk of their home until their homeowners insurance rebuilds it.   Insurance will not cover any additional expenses at this time and gas and other expenses are mounting. I am posting to ask the community to lend their support.

Meanderings Of A Muddled Mind

Last night I was gaming and a thought crossed my mind. An old friend had mentioned years ago when my father had passed away from cancer that a cure had been found. He went on to tell me that the DEA and leo had arrested the man and took everything.. all of his research.   I ask a few questions and got sketchy information. Today I realize what he was referring to. Yes it was cannabis. My thoughts follow a natural course to a question: When did the drug companies know that cannabis kills canc

Why Non-marijuana Consumers Should Support Ending Cannabis Prohibition

Just Because You Don’t Smoke Cannabis Doesn’t Mean You Shouldn’t Support Legalization   Every once in awhile I will be talking to a non-marijuana consumer, and they will tell me that the only reason they don’t support marijuana legalization is because they don’t smoke it. A common phrase I hear them say is, ‘Why would I care about something that doesn’t affect me?’ The fact of the matter is, marijuana prohibition affects us all to some extent, whether we consume cannabis or not.   More than
