My Experience With Portable Vaporizers For Concentrated Cannabis Oil And E-Cigarette Oil

My journey with pen vaporizers began with quitting smoking cigarettes. 30 years of smoking cigarettes, it was well time to quit.

Since the software update on this website, many of the images in this blog entry have been lost. You can view the complete content of this blog and more here: http://cchub.org/Blogs/blogs.html

I started off with purchasing a Dream Vapor Electronic Cigarette kit for $25.99. It took me about a week before I could fully stop the cigarettes and only use the e-cigarette. The first couple of weeks I noticed that my lungs were clearing up and I could breathe better. That is when I realized that I just had to make concentrated cannabis oil work in one of these refillable tank style e-cigarettes.

WARNING: The information and links I have posted throughout this blog were as I was learning. My opinion in some of the things has changed. Like the $37 SVD, it is low quality and not the real deal. I recommend the $89 kit through High Desert Vapes. The Dream Vapor, I no longer recommend that product. The C4 Clearomizer, I do not recommend that for cannabis oil, but it is acceptable for e-cigarette oils. For e-cigarettes, or any pen battery use, I recommend the eGo C Twist variable voltage batteries only, preferably the 650mAh. As you get to the end of the blog, you will see that I have gained more experience. I have tried the concentrate straight, e-cannabis oil, and I have found preferred products. In other words, read the blog to the end before making a product decision.

After some failures in testing different mixtures, I found what seems to work best. It seems that Propylene Glycol USP, which is a component used in many of the e-cigarette oils, works best. It is important to be sure to get Propylene Glycol USP. The PG USP is used in medicines and some food and beverage processing. It is also great for using in topical solutions. PG USP helps medicine penetrate skin and tissue which enables the medicine to enter the bloodstream more quickly and easily. PG USP also helps chemicals bond together.

The PG USP reduces the temperature required to vaporize the RSO (Concentrated Cannabis), which makes it possible to evenly vaporize the RSO with the e-cigarettes.

I have compared vaporizing straight RSO vs. RSO with PG USP added. For portable electronic vaporizers, RSO with PG USP seems better to me, I prefer it. It is not only the vaporizing with an e-cigarette, there are other benefits. Such as, being able to hold 1/2 ounce worth of bud, transformed into oil in the vaporizer tank. One fill can keep a patient medicated for weeks. You just cannot beat the convenience. Also, it seems to have a different effect when inhaling. It is almost like taking a draw from a medicine inhaler.

It is easy to mix the PG USP with the RSO. All you need to do is gently warm the RSO in a large spoon or small bowl just until it begins to "melt". Remove from the heat and mix in the PG USP. I have found that a 70% RSO to 30% PG USP works best. However it can vary any where from 10 - 50% PG USP, also personal preference fits into the equation. After the RSO and PG USP are mixed well, suck it up into a syringe. You now have E-Cannabis oil ready to fill an e-cigarette tank and start vaporizing your oil!

Since I have started doing this, I have not even desired to smoke a joint. I think in the last 3-4 weeks I have smoked maybe one.

Something I would like to add, I don't have a need for it, but others out there might be interested.

The mechanical Magneto vape will also accept an accessory that converts it to an electronic vape. This device is called the Kick. Now they have the Kick 2 with better ratings.

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Evolv_Kick_2_p/evv-2k.htm

I have also seen clone versions of the Kick, they may even be better.

I have been perfectly happy adjusting my vape power with different batteries.

I just stumbled across this really cool accessory offered by KangerTech. It should solve all the leaking and airflow problems with the ProTank 3. It may even make the ProTank3 a little nicer than the AeroTank. For less than $5 you can put the AeroTank airflow control valve onto the ProTank3.

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Kanger_Airflow_Control_Valve_Protank_II_Protank_p/kr-acv.htm

Looks like KangerTech is coming out with a lot of new equipment soon! Many look very worthy of testing.

I can't wait to be able to try out the mini and mega AeroTanks!

After further comparisons, I do prefer the PG added to the oil as apposed to nothing or a little grain alcohol.

Less problems, more even vapes, more convenient, just better overall.

Vaporizing can be good for those suffering from COPD, but even better is probably ingesting the RSO.

This is interesting as well. Whoopi Goldburg loves her vaporizer!

RSO is not just for cancer. I cannot count how many articles I have read about concentrated cannabis oil being useful for treating a multitude of illnesses.

Everybody is different, what works for one may not work for another. Also, not all cannabis plants are created equal. This is the same for concentrates, not all are the same.

See how different lighting can effect the looks? Using a basic smart phone camera and simple flashlight. LED flash sucks!

This was some of my mid-grade QWISO from my most recent batch.

I have really been enjoying the SVD with the KangerTech AeroTank.

The mechanical with the KISS with straight oil is a winner for me too, little expensive since you can't replace the coil in the KISS cart.

Now for the pen. The pen has been a pain in the a s s. Nix at 3MG turned me on to this Aspire CE5 BDC (bottom dual coil) clearomizer. It works great on the eGo C Twist VV battery. Even though it is dual coil (2.1 ohm) I have to turn my power down almost all the way. It seems extra efficient. This is a first impression and I am using a very clean oil. Same oil as shown above in the AeroTank. The design is different than any other bottom coil clearomizer I have seen. Especially for stealth and looking like a typical tank style e-cigg. The 510 drip tip is really good. The CE5 seems to be of high quality. I can see people preferring it.

For me a pen is a must. It is so concealable I just feel more comfortable in public or just out and about.

Aspire CE5 BDC $5.95 http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/12-days-of-christmas-deals/thursdays-deals-day-two/aspire-ce5-bottom-dual-coil-bdc-clearomizer/

5 pack of replacement coils (I like the 2.1 ohm) $10.95 http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/miscellaneous/aspire-bdc-replacement-coil-heads-5pk/

The Aspire CE5 BDC has eGo threads so it will work on the eGo C Twist pen battery and works well on the SVD too. Not sure yet if there is an adapter out there to go from 510 to eGo threads so it could potentially work on the magneto mechanical mod.

Some conversations I have had with other oil makers and mixers like to use homogenizers as a tool to mix their concentrate with VG. If you are a lightweight or just into selling it, the homogenize may be the way to go.

There is also CO2 oil extractions that are mixed with PEG and other chemicals. I have heard that PEG does not work as well but is used more for marketing because the product will stay infused longer. I have also heard many mention that the PEG tastes like plastic, burnt plastic.

I am really liking the Aspire CE5 BDC. I think I mixed about 30% PG USP. It is working much better than I thought it would. I will follow up after using it for a while.

The CE5 BDC offers a smoother more tasty hit than the AeroTank. I believe this is due to the fact that the CE5 BDC is plastic.

Well, I have vaped a little over a gram out of the  CE5 and took it to one of my patients to try. She said it was the best she has tried so far for a pen vape. She prefers a comfortable mellow hit since she has COPD she does not want to go into any big coughing fits.

The AeroTank gives bigger hits and you notice it buzz wise and how fast it consumes the oil.

With the CE5, you don't get as stoned as quickly because you get smaller hits. Even though the hits are small, it is satisfying. You can take a lot of hits and use and barely notice that any oil has been consumed.

I have only tried the 2.1 ohm coils at this point. I tried it on a standard eGo battery, not variable voltage. Actually, I used one of my old dream vapor batteries. With the dream vapor 650mAh battery it only stands 5.5" tall. That is great for stealth! Surprisingly it worked really well on the regular eGo battery. I still prefer the VV batteries. You can turn the power down lower with a VV battery and the CE5 works well with the lower voltage. A little more tasty with less power. With the standard eGo battery I have to feather the hits. Which is really cool, that means that the CE5 will work well with a $10 battery. It is nice to be able to just pop it into a pocket and go for a walk, take a hit here and there and it looks like a regular e-cigg.  Not to mention I always have a regular e-cigg with my anyway.

So far, best pen clearomizer yet!

I will follow up again after I get another few grams through it!!

Looks like a winner to me.

Posting this picture up for an example of the CE5 BDC.

As you can see it is on a small dream vapor 650mAh battery. I put my custom blown glass drip tip on it and it fits really good. It does effect the taste. It is not the set up I would prefer, just did it as an example that the CE5 has a wide range of capabilities. By changing the drip tip to glass or metal, like a cool looking skull and crossbones, it will have an effect on the taste and harshness. It is really nice being able to personalize your stuff. Not all devices with 510 drip tips are equal. Like the AeroTank, is not as versatile, few 510 drip tips will fit because the hole is a bit smaller. Even though they say it is 510. The CE5 drip tip does fit on the AeroTank, a bit tight, but it fits.

Aspire did a good job on sizing for the drip tip.

Well, I put the original 1.8 ohm coil in the Aspire and compared it to the 2.1 ohm coil.

You get larger hits with the 1.8 ohm coils. It does still seem efficient compared to others I have used. It is noticeable that it does consume more oil with the bigger hits. It is pretty tasty, may even be more tasty. For me, I prefer the 1.8 ohm coils. I believe my patients with a lower tolerance would prefer the 2.1 ohm coils. It would not be as easy for them to over do it and would be able to enjoy more hits. The good news with the original 1.8 ohm coils is it works good with the standard eGo batteries. Seems like it was made for them.

Really impressed with the Aspire CE5 BDC.

I haven't even been using my SVD and Kanger AeroTank since. It is just so convenient using the pen.

Here is some feedback on using the CE5 BDC.

I have used it for cannabis oil and e-cigg oil.

Comparing the CE5 BDC to the iClear16

First the e-cigg oil:  I have tried both coils, the 1.8 ohm and 2.1 ohm. Each seems the same with the exception of the size of the hit. Which is a good thing for e-cigg users. One downside, when I use a new unit or install a new coil it has a tendency to leak, like it needs to be primed. Now, when using a new unit or coil I only put a minimal amount of fluid into it, about 3/4 of a gram. After using it and confirming there is no potential to leak, I will fill it to the max. Other than that, there is no leaking issue, which is a big plus. Another big plus is it will work on a standard 510 battery, you don't have to have a variable voltage battery (VV), especially with the 2.1 ohm coil. I still highly recommend the VV battery though. Another big plus is the tip, a standard 510 which makes it possible to attach all kinds of nice tips to it, some of which can have an effect on the flavor. For e-ciggs, it is not as tasty compared to the iClear16, but it offers a nice kick in the throat which makes it seem like a real cigarette. I am really liking it for e-cigg use. For e-cigg use it gets a big thumbs up. The only thing I could really complain about is that it is not as tasty for e-ciggs compared to the iClear16. I think I am going to continue to use the CE5 BDC for my e-cigg use from now on.

For e-cannabis oil: it is really great that it does not leak except for the possibility when a new coil is installed. Again, just 3/4 of a gram and let it soak for a while before use. Be extra careful not to get any oil in the center tube when you go to fill it. If you hear any gurgling when taking a draw without the power button, immediately tip it upside down and take a small hit with the power button. Then gradually hold it level, take another small hit. Continue to do this until you hit the unit standing up straight and there is no more gurgling. If allowed to continue to gurgle, it will leak a lot down to the battery. I have only had this happen with a new unit or coil. It usually happens within the first couple of uses. Other than that, it is great but with one problem. This problem would be taste. That really sucks too because I really like the CE5 BDC. The iClear16 blows the doors off of the CE5 BDC when it comes to taste. The iClear16 will offer a bigger hit too. Not that important to me with good oil, but the taste is. The CE5 BDC causes the oil to have a bit of a burnt taste. Switching 510 tips can help, but it still does not taste nearly as good as with the iClear16.

The CE5 BDC is a more high quality unit than the iClear16 and more stealthy too, because you can use the smaller regular 510 batteries.  If you have a low tolerance or you want your oil to last longer, you can always use the 2.1 ohm coil. You want a bigger hit, you will prefer the 1.8 ohm coil. A noticeable difference. It would be nice if they offered a 1.5 ohm coil for it.

All in all, I have not found a stealthy clearomizer for the standard 510 pen, VV or not, that I am fully satisfied with for e-cannabis. Thankfully, I have found that the innokin SVD with the KangerTech AeroTank, I am fully satisfied with.

Oh, and that 30 amp battery I spoke of previously. After longer use, I am not that happy with it. It seems to fry my Kanger coils more than normal and the battery does not seem to produce the same power as it did when it was brand new. Maybe I shouldn't be using that type of battery with the Kanger tanks considering the coil is around 2.1 ohms. I would prefer a higher quality brand than the one I provided a link to. I will have to try a different brand in the near future. It is not easy to get good information on the batteries.

To add a bit of information in regards to the burnt taste. It seems that the coils are a bit smaller than the typical in that ohm rating. At the beginning, it tastes great, but since the coils are small, it quickly gums up and that causes the burnt taste.

When comparing to my other units, the burnt taste does not happen as quickly or it is more avoidable since the coils are larger.

Well, I guess it is not over yet for the CE5 BDC for me. I was poking around and found that Aspire makes a 1.6 ohm coil for them. That should provide a larger hit and may also improve the taste in the long run. I am very impressed with the unit, especially since they offer three different size coils and the 510 drip tip. I like it enough to where I have been loyally using it for my e-ciggs. I just ordered a pack of 1.6 ohm coils and as soon as they arrive I will make sure my CE5 is clean and spotless and then give the new coil a try with some top notch QWISO.

Aspire has proven to be worthy to me. Their larger unit may be a winner. It is available with 1.6 and 1.8 ohm coils. I have a feeling these may be larger and offer better taste. You can't judge by the resistance or ohms alone, thickness and length of the wire and the type of metal wire used. Each element has an effect on the taste, the size of coil, and the power required. The new model is kind of expensive, but I may just have to get one to try when I can get the extra cash. The Aspire Nautilus.

I have been holding out for KangerTech's new version of the AeroTank. It is supposed to have a new coil design and hopefully less glass on the tank.

Well, tired of waiting so I want to try the 1.5 ohm coil for the AeroTank. just ordered some. That may make a big difference in regards to the 30 amp battery. It could be functioning correctly, I just am hesitant to try it on any of my current devices since the coils have been getting fried so quickly and I don't have many spares. As soon as I get the new coils I will try it out with the AeroTank on the magneto. Maybe that will solve all of the problems I had with the battery. It will also help verify some things with the battery, assuming it is still good.

Of course I will have to report back on how it compares to the 2 ohm coil using the SVD.

I am hoping for a little more of a tasty hit. A bigger hit won't hurt much either.

I should be receiving the CE5 BDC coils soon.

I have been trying out the new CE5 BDC coils, the 1.6 ohm.  I am really liking them for e-ciggs, give a bigger hit. I will have more to say on that soon.

Still waiting to get the 1.5 ohm AeroTank coils.

Just ordered the newly released AeroTank Mega and the newly released AeroTank Mini. Luckily a couple of people from RIU let me know they were now available.

The site claims the new designed coils are better. So I ordered a few of each 1.5 ohm and 2.0 ohm for spares. It also states that these new coils will work with my current AeroTank and will be an improvement.

I have saved my best QWISO for this. The SVD and AeroTank have proven to be the best when it comes to function. I think it is a worthy bet to give these new products a try since I am so happy with the AeroTank and SVD.

I will follow up as soon as I get to try them.

Well, just tried each for the first time. The AeroTank Mega and Mini.

The newly designed coils are useable in the original AeroTank as well!

The Mega has 510 threads and the Mini has eGo threads. Both work great on my eGo pen and SVD.

My first impression, they are the whoop! Both of them. I especially like the Mega, it is perfect!

I put about 3.5 grams of e-cannabis oil in the tank. When it runs out, I will replace the coil an fill again! The coils only cost a couple bucks. With the mini I will do a couple fills before changing out the coil.

A piece of advice if you decide to get one of these. Take the tank area apart when it is brand new and let it air out in front of a fan for about 5 minutes. This will eliminate the stale air and stink from the manufacturing process. Since the tanks are fully assembled, the air is pretty much stuck in the chamber until you take it apart. Just kind of has a stale taste when you dry hit it.

I have been using each of them with the 1.5 ohm coils. The mini came standard with the 1.5 ohm coil. The mega comes standard withe 2.0 ohm coil. The coils are interchangeable. I believe the 1.5 ohm coils give a bigger hit and consume more oil faster.

It appears that the loose 510 tip issue from the AeroTank has been corrected. The tips on the Mega and MIni fit great!

It is really cool that you have the option to use a stainless steel tank or glass. Each came with those options. Yes, it dose make the unit a bit more heavy with the metal tank, but looks really cool and it can have big effects on the taste whether using it with e-cannabis oil or e-cigg oil.

A close up of the mega, I think this is my favorite to use on the SVD!! 3.5 grams of oil. The oil goes below the glass into a small "pan like" area. Yes, it will be difficult to see when it is completely empty, but it is a bad a s s unit!!

Again, first impression on the Mega and Mini. Each are the highest quality I have seen for a pen and APV (Advanced Personal Vape) so far.

Here is a link to KangerTech. Looks like they are going to rule when it comes to e-cigg accessories. http://www.szkanger.com/index.asp

They have a pretty awesome product line up for sure! Their new product line up looks good too.

I have been trying the AeroTank Mega with the glass tank. A lot more smooth and less burning compared to the AeroTank. So far no clogging or gurgling, every hit has been the same as the last. Not as easy to burn the oil and less feathering of the button required. When I get around to it I will try one of the new designed coils in the AeroTank. This would be to see if it helps with the burning effect and taste of the hit.

A little update on using the AeroTank Mega.

After using up half of the oil, it has been working 100% flawless. Best taste.

I was using it on the SVD but just switched it to the Magneto mechanical vape. I have the 18490 battery in the magneto. It operates kind of hot, which is good. You can't hold the button down long. It seems to be working really well with the 1.5 ohm coil. It fits good and works good on the magneto.

With the regular AeroTank and the 2.0 ohm coil I started running into clogging issues because it was not running hot enough. Going to a stronger battery seemed to start ruining the coils.  With the new 1.5 ohm coil for the AeroTank Mega and Mini, which will also work in the original AreoTank, the Magneto operated them kind of hot so you have to be fast with the trigger finger. I prefer that for a mechanical vape.

I also just put one of the new style 2.0 ohm coils in my original AeroTank used it on the Magneto and SVD and each seemed to operate the tank very well. So far anyway.

A nice review of the KangerTech AeroTank Mega and Mini. Someone shared this video with me who just tried the Mini with their BHO mixed to e-cannabis oil. They said it works a lot better than the MJ pen they were using that is meant for vaporizing concentrates straight. It basically solved a lot of their complaints they were having with their standard MJ pen.

In the video the guy is using prototypes, not the final product that is now available. The unit that I received is a bit of a fancier design. They solved the loose airflow control problem on the mini and mega and the petty gauge that shows the airflow is 50% more accurate now.

The steel tanks that they also come with have a nice design on them, in the video they were just smooth cylinders with no design. The mini I received came a little different than what is shown in the video. My mini came with an additional metal tank and the package arrangement was different. The mini was assembled in the package I received.

The only improvement I would recommend would be on the mini to where the mini would be like the mega and not allow any possibility of liquid dripping down to the battery chamber. The only other thing I could think of would be more options with the coils. Higher and lower ohms and different types of metal to be used for the coils which can have a big effect on the taste, like titanium for instance.

This guy is real strict on his reviews, but I would say he is the best reviewer I have seen.

The mini and mega are the whoop. KangerTech just released the AeroTank V2, can't wait to try that and I can't wait to try the new ceramic coils when they become available.

KangerTech Rocks!

These two units really seem to be of a medical/hospital grade in quality.

Some tips from My Vapor Store about KangerTech products. I don't agree with all of the tips, but then again, I am using e-cannabis oil.

Tips:

  • The metal tube in the center of this Clearomizer leads from the mouthpiece to the battery end. Avoid getting liquid in this tube when filling the Clearomizer.
  • When unfastening the base (atomizer head) to refill the Clearomizer, the seals are temporarily broken and liquid will leak from the mouthpiece or escape into the center tube. Always wrap a cloth or piece of tissue around the mouthpiece when unfastening the base of the Clearomizer.
  • Gurgling noise or leaks: This is a sign that liquid has found its way into the metal tube in the center of the Clearomizer (and usually occurs after a refill). Ridding the center tube of liquid will resolve the issue. To do so without emptying the tank, remove the Clearomizer from the battery, wrap a cloth or tissue around the battery end of the Clearomizer and blow through the mouthpiece.
  • The atomizer head of the Protank can unfasten when unscrewing the tube or base. Always secure the atomizer head before reinstalling the base of the Protank.
  • It is normal to find a small amount of liquid in the battery contact area when removing the Clearomizer or any atomizer. We recommend cleaning the battery before charging it.
  • When possible, keep the tank full and never below 1/3 full of eLiquid ("topped off"). This helps maintain the "vacuum" in the tank and prevent leaks.
  • Atomizer heads have an average lifespan between 10 to 20 days. When the atomizer head wears down, it may begin to leak. Replace the atomizer head with a new one if available.

It has taken me a while to consume the 3.8 grams of oil I put into my AeroTank Mega. I have also been testing the Mini so it has taken some time. I ended up putting my Mega away for a good week or so and there was not even a gram left in it from the original fill. So I consumed about 3 grams to that point. When I went back to use it a week later, it was acting like the coil flooded over or something. Being experienced, I tipped it upside down, took some hits to try to clear out the flooding and some oil leaked into my mouth. That meant it was really flooded. I immediately removed the coil and put it into a shot glass with some 151 everclear. I drained all of the oil I could out of the tank. Earlier in this blog I show how I warm the tank to help loosen the oil so I can get the most out. I noticed that the oil was very thick. That is partially from it sitting for a week with the air valve open and also due to vaping 3 grams out of it. The oil will become thicker and darker from the non vaporizable stuff in the concentrate building up. So I drained out what I could and had to add quite a bit of PG USP to it to thin it out enough to use in the tank. A lot of oil was still stuck in the tank so I added extra PG USP, a bit more than I normally would. Put it back into the tank. Blew the alcohol out of the coil and installed that back into the tank. It appears that I will be able to finish vaping with the original coil. With the extra PG USP I had to add it made the tank almost half full. I am pretty confident it will finish what is in there then I will completely clean the tank, replace the coil, and refill.

Normally I pitch a coil after three grams of use. In between that three grams I like to clean the coil in alcohol so I can get another gram worth of use out of it. The Mega flooded over right at about three grams. I think it is because I made the oil a little thick. Next time I go to fill the Mega I will make the oil a bit thinner with PG USP and believe that may solve the issue. If it does not, or an alternative, when the Mega is half empty, I will just take the coil out, clean it then put it back in or simply replace it. Then there would only be a couple of drops of oil lost.

With the flooding of my Mega, I probably lost out of the whole process, only about 5 drops of e-cannabis oil. That is because I caught on quickly and am familiar with the flooding issue and how to notice it.

E-cannabis is quite new, many vaporizers are new and each has their own querks, and each have their own styles and methods of use. I guess each has their own personality. It takes some getting used to. Of course there will be losses and mistakes made. Just like learning how to roll a joint. How many joints did you roll that fell apart before you go it right? How many packs of papers were wasted from being torn? With this vaping it is a lot more expensive when it comes to loss, but the gains are worth it in my opinion. Like the video above with the guy doing the testing, he recommends one item, then the next day, he is recommending another. I feel the same way. They are making new products so fast it is hard to keep up, but I am keeping a lot of my focus on the KangerTech products. After trying their AeroTanks, the original, Mega, and Mini, because so far they have been the most impressive to me.

Back to testing. There is a lot more I have to do with the mini and mega when it comes to coils and all that. It will take some time. I am excited to try out some new products. I just ordered their sub ohm coils. Usually sub ohm coils are only meant for mechanical vapes because they require high amps. They recommend the coils I ordered 0.8 ohm to be used with a mechanical vape. I am going to give them a try and see how they work. Luckily I have a couple mechanical vapes to try them on. I will also see if the SVD offers enough power to operate them too.

Also, I will be testing the new KangerTech AeroTank V2. I ordered that and as soon as it arrives, I will fill it up with some prime e-cannabis oil and give it a try.

A followup will be posted soon

I wanted to be able to try my new KangerTech AeroTank Mini on my Smoktech Magneto mechanical vape. Problem was the Magneto accepts 510 threaded attachments and the Mini has eGo threads. A dilemma for sure, but a dilemma no more with this handy 510 to eGo adapter.

You can get yours for only $2.99 at High Desert Vapes https://highdesertvapes.com/products/510-%252d-eGo-Adapter.html

I tried it out and it seems to work great! Now I can also attach my Aspire CE5 BDC to the magneto!

Well, I tried out the PEG400 NF/USP Grade in lieu of PG USP to mix the concentrate into e-cannabis.

For starters, it is much thicker than PG USP. Closer to your average e-cigg oil mix.

I sampled my winterized QWISO so there already was no real mj flavor.

In the preferred KangerTech products, with my best oil it can be harsh, gives a throat burn. The KangerTech products work the best, so I figured I would try the PEG mix. It is smoother, but one bad side is it has a chemical taste, hard to describe, kind of a burnt taste, but that is not the right description. Anyway, it worked real good. I figured it would be a good time to try some flavor samples I received from my favorite e-cigg shops. I added 3 or 4 drops to about 1.5 grams of mix with PEG. The flavor I used is Jolly Rancher. It made a big difference. It stayed infused nicely and took most of the chemical taste out and added a nice hint of Jolly Rancher candy, mostly on the exhale. It makes me want to try different flavors now. Maybe other flavors would make it smoother and more enjoyable. I will have to try it with non-winterized concentrate too to see if those walk over the PEG chemical taste.

More testing needs to be done!

I am still using the KangerTech AeroTank mini and have not had a problem yet. I have changed coils a couple times.

Here is where I got the PEG400 NF/USP Grade http://www.texlabsupply.com/product-p/2ozpeg400.htm

There are other items I have been testing lately. I recently acquired a KangerTech AeroTank V2. I have also received some sub ohm coils (0.8 ohm). I have been trying out the attachments on my mechanical vape and so far they have been working out really well. I will do a follow up report on those soon.

PEG400 NF/USP that I purchased from the link shown above (Tex Lab Supply). The small bottle on the right is a sample of Jolly Rancher e-cigarette flavoring. When used together with concentrated cannabis oil they work pretty well. I will have to try other flavors.

KangerTech AeroTank V2.

AeroTank V2 7 2 14 078

It is a little harsh like the other AeroTank models. The Mega seems to be the smoothest I have used yet. The V2 seems like it is the best built of them all. The air control is really good, the best actually. There is plenty of room to grip with your fingers. It is a little taller than the original AeroTank. The V2 is a better design, but may not look as nice as the original.

Oh how to explain what I have here.

Mechanical Vape Sub Ohm Coils AeroTank 7 2 14 080

First, I think I like the 2.0 ohm coils the best, at least for the larger units like the AeroTank Mega when used on an APV-MOD vape like the SVD.

Normally the lower the ohms the more power is required to operate them, at least with the coils I have used in the past, more so with cartomizers. In this case, with Kanger and the CE5 dual coil units, it is the opposite. The lower the ohms, the less power is required with these two units. A 1.5 ohm coil is good with a standard eGo pen battery. When you start to go to the sub ohm coils, it requires less power. The sites you purchase them at warn that large power sources are required and only a select few vaporizers can operate them. Other than that, the sub ohm coils are meant for the mechanical vapes. I tried a 0.8 ohm with my eGo C Twist VV battery, set at the lowest setting and it worked, but it would not work on the SVD or most other APV vaporizers. This is not because they do not have the power, but I am pretty sure it is because of the circuit protection, it sees the coils as being faulty. Some of the newer units I would suspect the circuitry has been programmed to allow the sub ohm coils. Here is how I know. My imitation SVD, the $39 dollar special from Hong Kong, well it operates the sub ohm coils just fine, since it is a "fake" it does not have the circuitry protection.

The sub ohm coils seem to be mostly meant for mechanical vapes with the standard AW batteries. These coils are very sensitive to minor differences in the battery amperage. The 1.5 ohm coil works best with the 18490 battery. The 18350 battery, the smallest battery my units will accept, will operate the 1.0 and 0.8 ohm coils. So far my AW batteries have proven to be worthy. Nice and heavy and good quality.

Sometimes a mechanical vape works best. With these new coils, I have not fully tested a mechanical vape with them yet. In the past, I have had the mechanical vapes cause the units to flood. So far, with these newer coils, I have not had the mechanical vape cause them to flood. I will report back after more testing with the mechanical.

Wow, I made another mistake in regards to the Jolly Rancher e-cannabis oil. Hmmmmm. I have to watch this video to give me some motivation.

I noticed in my picture that the Jolly Rancher says "mix". I took a closer look at it and I realized it was a sample of e-cigarette oil, not just flavoring. I did end up adding a little bit more of the flavored oil to my mix and did not notice any separation. Maybe the PEG allows the VG to mix with the PG USP. I will have to do a little experiment with that just to know.

I will have to start this experiment all over after my mini needs cleaning and refilling, I will refill it with the same mix of concentrate and PEG400, but I will use real flavoring that was also a sample. It is Plumb Apricot and NF Organic too. That would be awesome if they work together. I will be careful and start with only one or two drops.

Just jotting stuff down as it comes to me.

Okay, so I tried mixing the PEG400 mixed with my concentrate with VG and it does not mix. I added some PG USP, they blended together. As the mixture sat, they slowly separated. No biggie, it doesn't seem that the VG would help anyway. I used my PEG400 mixed with the concentrate and mixed in one drop of the Plumb Apricot Organic flavoring to about 1 gram of e-cannabis mix and it came out great! It gave it a nice candy flavor and is quite potent too. So far, this is looking like it could be promising. I am really liking it. It is pretty smooth and enjoyable tasting. I get a lot more out of my mini with this mixture vs e-cigarette oil. It seems to last a long time and give a good size hit too. My mixture is probably around 40% PEG400. Other concentrates could require a different percentage depending on how thick the concentrate is.

I have been running a somewhat thick oil through my AeroTank Mini and so far have not had any problems.

Can't wait to try the PEG400 with oil that has not been winterized to see how the flavor is.

Wowzers!

I just discovered this with the winterized QWISO I made (pictured in posts above). It makes it kind of difficult to vape the remaining 10 grams. After 90 days of sitting in the dark, the bunny muffin is incredible when eaten.

RSO is great and has served me well, but I believe I have found a better method of making oil for treating illness. I am sure it is much more medicinal and I know it provides a preferred buzz (medicated feeling) at least in my opinion.

When you harvest you don’t throw your buds right into the oven to quick dry them so you can start enjoying immediately right? Of course not, that would be degrading your medicine. I feel the same way about making oil.

There is no need to apply any heat whatsoever, it only causes damage to the end product (oil). I have verified this. Not with tests, but with consumption. I have been working with the same strains for many years so when there is a difference, I notice it.

I made a sap like QWISO/QWET hash. I wasn’t able to consume it within 90 days. I was using it for vaporizing. After I made the oil, every couple of weeks or so I would eat a dose just to see if it gave me a buzz. After about 90 days, all of a sudden it was fully decarbed and had taste to it. The buzz is superior to RSO in my opinion it offers a more clean comfortable feeling. One pea size dose and I am totally baked for 5 hours and feel the effects for 24 hours. A better, higher, harmonic head buzz with awesome visual effects. I have never had this effect from oil. I like it, it is the whoop. Keep your QWET or whatnot like a sap and store it in syringes for 90 days in a dark place and give it a try. With no heat, all the terpines and other goodies are in there. I only dry it with a fan, no heat at all. Simply pour the solvent into a pyrex baking dish and evaporate the alcohol off with a fan blowing across the pan.

Just wanted to pass this along, you may want to give it a try. You can make very small batches if you wish. You can simply start off using ¼ ounce of bud or an ounce, it doesn’t make a difference. Just make sure you date it.

I consider this oil a naturally decarbed sap. It is important to keep it in a sap state so you will keep all the terpines and CBDs. The buzz effects are the best I have had.

This is a first impression. It has been 5 days of taking the naturally decarbed oil.

I wish I could have it tested side by side to my RSO. I used the exact same method of washing in solvent. The only difference is I use a fan to help the evaporation, no heat whatsoever. I prefer 190 proof or higher organic or grain alcohol. I believe this helps the oil to stay in a sap state and dissolves almost instantly in your mouth.  It can also be made with 99% isopropyl alcohol or whatnot. I prefer the safer grain alcohol. (I don’t mind a little grain alcohol being left behind).

At the very least it is a great alternative for people who do not have access to a large quantity of buds or simply cannot afford a large quantity of buds or people that are not comfortable having to boil off the solvent outside. Yes you have to wait at least 90 days for it to decarb, but if you need to you can decarb a small amount for immediate use by simply heating it in a rice cooker, frying pan, double boiler set up, etc. It will get you by until the main batch has naturally decarbed.

I will be discussing more about this oil on my blog. After trying it, that is what I will probably be taking from now on (the rest of my life).

I love RSO, but I am definitely preferring fully naturally (no heat) decarbed oil

Peace and God bless
