After the legalization of marijuana in Michigan, some patients are thinking they could stop paying the state $100 for the special mmp card , and just use the recreational marijuana law to grow their medicine.
A patient with a registered card can use the ultimate defense and immunity to avoid a driving under the influence charge.
Only adults 21 or over are protected by the new legalization law, but no one yet knows how the new law will affect driving privileges.
Is the zero tolerance of THC in your blood law still in effect for adult use marijuana ?
The new law is similarly worded to the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act.
      Whereas the MMMA says
While the meaning of "under the influence" was not decided within the MMMA until 2012, with People v Koon, that was 4 years of police arresting patients for driving with marijuana in their blood.
The court in People v Koon came to the conclusion:
Ignoring that for a minute, the Michigan State Police have been tasked with sampling saliva during road side stops for a task force on marijuana driving. The task force was created in order to find a nanogram limit for THC in blood, even though 50 years of scientific research on the subject has consistently said marijuana does not affect driving.
So my advice is, if you are a patient, keep the patient card active until the courts either give up on all marijuana issues, or at least this driving issue , or it is decided by the Michigan Supreme Court.
Basically, until non-patients get a similar "People v Koon" ruling from the Michigan Supreme Court, it is advised that any patients keep their cards to protect them fully under the MMMA.
"Don't be the first person to test this in court."

  2. You could build the older version of these HLG QB V1s for $47 each and a 240w driver($60) to push the boards at 60w. Probably wouldnt even need the heatsink. So you're talking $260 for the components plus the frame and wiring. Very cheap way to get into high end LED lighting.
  3. Thanks, Semi. I enjoyed putting the light together and it was fairly easy. I used 40 rivets for that entire frame and a few pieces of angle alumium. If you notice in the very first post of the kits, the driver is mounted on top of the light, adding heat to the room. The light rig i just built has the driver remotely mounted outside of the insulated grow space. Eventually I'll remotely mount the drivers in the kits I built as well. These lights are bright and WILL bleach your plants white if less than 12", some run 18" but 18-24" is the closest you want to get them in flower at 150watts per quantum board. If you ran the QBs at 60w you could get them a lot closer. I'm pushing the limits of these LEDs with the highest amperage allowed.
  4. How big is the carbon filter? In the beginning, I could flower 6 plants using a 4" carbon filter. Now I have to use a 6" as well as a 4" for 7 plants. It took me a while to get the aromatics going strong is what I'm saying.
  5. Yes. Depending on the strain.
  6. I do have the carbon filter system. I will be growing 2 plants indoors this winter and I will see what I can do to keep the smell down.
  7. White widow, day 56. 150w LED
  8. You should educate her about how one using carbon filters, has no odor issues. Then viola! You're free to bloom. I flower near a supermarket, so odor control is a priority for me too. Already got my doors kicked in once for not using carbon filters in the past.
  9. Thanks for all the advice. I am going to start them into bloom cycle this week. My tent is only 6'5" and these are going to be trees in 6 weeks if they continue the way they are. I only have one shot at a harvest as my wife does not want them stinking up the house. I have some clones I took from topping them. I am allowed to grow in the house as long as I don't let them bloom.
  10. Look back at how big they were 2 weeks ago when I first put them in the new tent. Scary how much they have grown.
  11. Look back at how big they were 2 weeks ago when I first put them in the new tent. Scary how much they have grown.
  12. Ok, I see your plan. My Widow, 56 days. My buddys widow. 70 days. Without running a plant first, you're pretty much going in blind. Are you going outdoor for 2 months, or indoor for 2 months. If indoor, you might need vaulted ceilings if vegged any longer. If I were you I'd take a bunch of big clones from the top. As long as you keep the mites down, all the lower branches will grow into new colas, giving you the extended veg you want. Plus, you'll have some rooted teens by the time you flower mother. Then just do them all at the same time.
  13. Is it true that the plants will continue growing even when you start into bloom and increase in size 50% of what they are when you start the bloom cycle?
  14. My plants are not in a heated building. I am going to grow until the end of August then start them blooming. I will have 2 months of bloom time before harvest at the end of October.
  15. What do you mean you have 6 weeks of veg left? They look ready to me. Go 12/12 and don't top them.
  16. I was just going to ask him the same thing; "Can you mount the driver remotely to save on heat in the tent/room?" With the 1500 Yehsense you can let the plants grow up to 6 inches from the light at mid bloom. Right now I have my hydro scrog about a foot away just starting to go 12/12 bloom with both switches on. They don't have a dimmer but they have two switches, one for veg and both for bloom. Not sure how many growers have the room to have the lights 2-3 feet above the plants.
  17. Gary, New fixture looks really nice and clean. Are you mounting the ballast directly to the fixture or moving it off to a wall for better cooling? I watched the video and one thing struck me. The voice over ( about 8 min 30 sec into video) talked about mounting the light no closer than 24-30" to the plants for bloom. I have never used LED's but I have had the impression that one of their benefits is they can be inches from the plants.
  18. I tried 3 of my fixtures in a tent, and it ran waaay too hot. That's when my tents became vegetative. LOL.
  19. It all depends on the plant. You can get an idea of what phenos to expect from sites like seedfinder, or possibly even the seed breeder sites. But the only way to know is to run it, or one of each plant. Widow typically stretches a lot. Mine stretches for 20 days before she bulks up. Are you flowering indoors, because those should be trees in 6 more weeks. LOL. Also, if desperate, you can "snap" in flower. Just don't do it too far into flower. If it's an 8wk, I wouldn't "snap" past 2 weeks. Otherwise, you'll stress her out too much, and lose potency.
  20. Should I top all the branches now. They are up to my hip already. I have 6 weeks of vegetative growth left before I switch them to bloom. I am concerned they will get too tall if I don't stop the vertical growth.
  21. It would be nice to see 'how much heat is added to a room' type comparison.
  22. Here is the custom jobby I built last night. 1200W beast at full power or dimmable down to 600watts. 2300 LEDs in this rig total. Covers a 4x8 really well. Might space the next build out more.
  23. Almost as much but not quite. 270w x 4 = >1000w . Thats double the energy of my light. Double the cost. Double the heat.
  24. Comparison is the thievery of joy.
  25. Well I started growing LED with another guy who didn't know much about them. Things didn't go so well, he was talking ish, and I tried to fight him. He pepper-sprayed me and called the cops. LOL. I'm immune to pepper-spray by the way(too many handcuffs). It just sucked how my Oreos tasted like pepper-spray that day. Anyways, it took me years to go from 1-2oz per LED light to 5-7oz per led light. I think I'm doing pretty good for someone who doesn't even have proper air exchange or using CO2 supplementation. So when I see someone who has all the bells and whistles, I can't help but think they should be doing better than I.
  26. Like I said, I learned about LEDs from a friend with deep pockets and doesn't care how much he spends. Actually growing. Lights with plants under them? Understand? Not books? Not google. Then I bought lights and used them for a few grows before I ever said a word here.
