  1. I am sitting here scratching my head after talking on the phone with a potential new patient that was looking for a caregiver. This is the third time I have had people say something to the effect that I am making this harder than it has to be. No wonder most of you deal with close friends and family for your patients. I think I am ready to just call it quits as people astonish me with their lack of regard for the legalities on this patient to caregiver relationship. Can you all give me a way to have a good discussion with a potential new patient? What are some good questions to lead with? I start out asking about what their medical needs are and confirm they do in fact have a MMMJ card. Then I try to touch on a bonafide relationship with their Dr. ..as in a follow up at least once ( in regards to making sure that their card is upheld/ validated in court if any problem arises) and that is where people seem to think i am a nit picker.... maybe i am not explaining myself in a concise follow along manner......but people dont get where I am going and when I say it could be the difference between me going to jail or not they say something to the effect that I am worrying more than i should or overthinking, complicating matters which are simple. Are patients not educated? I am just disheartened. Any suggestions? As with anything I know you should start light and move gradually into more intense questioning/discussions.....how do I have a productive discussion? Thank you.
  2. not sure where I was to post this under ---- sorry
  3. In a continued assualt on safe access in Northern Michigan Rolla and the State Police raided the Gaylord Dispensaries making sure that patients will once again struggle to have safe access. We are asking ALL NoRTHERN MICHIGAN PATIENTS CAREGIVERS AND SYMPATHIZERS to gather at the STATE POLICE POST and light up at 4:20pm in protest. More details to come. state police post 73 This is off a facebook support page (save our access 3-13-2016 4:20) as it seems the folks up in northern MI are experiencing continued problems with LEO. They are trying to support one another and unite ! This is up in Gaylord/ Grayling
  4. This really blows my mind. Its just more and more pieces of the picture showing us that the judicial system is in fact more corrupt than I ever suspected. This man (Keith Woods) who is a Pastor, I believe, was on the public sidewalk outside the Mescota County courthouse handing out pamphlets (that were created by by a third party organization) discussing Jury Nullification. Judge Peter Jakelevic didn't like this and had him arrested and charged with one count of obstruction of justice which is a 5 year felony and up to $10,000 in fines and one count of attempting to influence jurors, a one year misdemeanor and up to $1,000 in fines. ( PIONEER bigrapidsnews.com Feb 3rd) Apparently Judges and Prosecutors dont want the public to become informed about the option that they have as Jurors - JURY NULLIFICATION "Jury nullification is the idea that jurors have the right to ignore a law they disagree with and vote according to their conscience. Supporters say it is legal and jurors should know their rights. Many prosecutors and judges disagree." http://woodtv.com/2015/12/10/debate-over-charges-for-fliers-in-front-of-courthouse/ (read article about it here) I have never served on a Jury and also I didnt know that Judges usually dont inform the Jury of this either. Keith Wood was sentenced to 150,000 bond and had to put the $ on his credit card to bail out. There is a facebook page (we support Keith Wood) to show support for him (and also our First Amendment right) His hearing is March 23rd a motions hearing for dismissal, reduction of bond and discovery. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 9:00 am Mecosta County Courthouse (49th Circuit Court Room) 400 Elm St. Big Rapids, MI 49307 I must say.....Michigan is really out of control as a police state. The system is attempting to dismantle our rights and make the people into sheep. No choice, no rights, no thought, no nothing.......follow the Shepard or else. Pioneer Article-02-03-2016.pdf
  5. UGGGGGGGGGG....I didnt realize this was such an epidemic acoss the board in the USA (seizures of all kinds, to such a radical extent) by the police. I just have watched more videos and read more articles where the police are taking money from legitimate hard working people left and right.... So the bigger picture here is it is happening already a lot and MMMJ just hands it over on a silver platter.
  6. Hello I Just recently came across this. I am just speechless and really bothered to realize that any possessions we may have or own are at risk of just being taken even when there is NO conviction....? Has any change in the laws been made since last may? The wheels of govt move slow so I am pretty sure I would say, not........... How do you all deal with this hanging over your heads? I am re thinking being a caregiver ! I just watched her you-tube testimony to a Michigan house judiciary committee about how her assets were confiscated despite NOT being charged. I I first read the article by David Edwards in RAW STORY.... (below) Medical marijuana user Ginnifer Hency told a group of Michigan lawmakers last week that a drug task force raided her home and kept ‘every belonging’ she owned — including her vibrator — even after a judge dismissed the charges against her. Forbes contributor Jacob Sullum reported last week that Hency testified before the Michigan state House Judiciary Committee about what happened when her home in Smiths Creek was raided last July. Hency explained that her neurologist had recommended medical marijuana to treat pain associated with multiple sclerosis. She is also registered in the state of Michigan as a caregiver for five other patients, giving her the ability to distribute medical marijuana. Hency said that the six ounces in her locked backpack were in compliance with Michigan medical marijuana laws when a drug task force raided her home with four children present. “They took everything, even though I was fully compliant with the Michigan medical marijuana laws,” she said. “They charged me with possession with intent to deliver, even though I’m allowed to possess and deliver.” A St. Clair County judge dropped the charges against Hency, but for 10 months law enforcement officials have refused to give back her belongings. “They have had my stuff for 10 months, my ladder, my iPad, my children’s iPads, my children’s phones, my medicine for my patients,” Hency noted. “Why a ladder? Why my vibrator, I don’t know either. Why TVs?” “The prosecutor came out to me and said, ‘Well, I can still beat you in civil court. I can still take your stuff,’” Hency recalled, adding, “I was at a loss. I literally just sat there dumbfounded.” “And I was just sitting there, like, thinking I was going to be able to get my stuff back, but not in this country. And that is why civil asset forfeiture in this state needs to change.” According to Sullum, the Michigan House Judiciary Committee is considering a bill that would require local law enforcement agencies to report forfeitures to the state police, and it would raise the standard of proof required for civil forfeiture in drug cases. But under the proposed law, local agencies would continue to keep 100 percent of the proceeds from forfeitures, “which gives them a strong incentive to target people based on the assets they own instead of the threat they pose to public safety,” Sullum wrote.
  7. There is....M Neumann ......I saw him initially. $150,but He is not a MMMJ doctor per say that can advocate for you in my humble opinion. He didnt advise me of many issues that encompass the "patient" like a follow up or other pertinent info. Dr Kumar Singh is totally versed in the entire subject and advocates to his patients. He appears to not want idiotic people who are not informed and he passes info and educates. He is part of a greater good in this movement. This is the kind of doctor I want on my side. I might have to bite the bullet and just drive up there for the day. Its a rather exhausting day especially coupled with a work day but everything has its pros and cons. Nothing bad to say about Dr,. Newman. I just want someone on my side who is equipped & informed with as many of the possible facets im facing or encountering. AND....Dr Singh will go to court for his patients as he understands a bonafide patient doctor relationship......He even does an online visit or check in, inbetween the initial and the in person follow-up. This way there is mush documentation on your progress with treatment with the MMJ on file.
  8. Thanks for the responses..... both Ann Arbor and Dearborn are about 50 min drive.......way better than the Greenlight clinic in Troy Michigan. Dr. Kumar Singh was fabulous and very professional and very informed. $99 New patients and $79 renewals. Its just to far to drive and a bit complex in the itinerary .....lol
  9. I hope you don't mind if I chime in and ask the same thing ...Looking for a doctor in lower Michigan near the Ohio -Michigan boarder. I originally visited (1 year ago) a doctor who was glad to take the money and fill out my form giving me my MMMJ card. He never even asked me to come back for a follow up. I am a legitimate patient as I am a cancer survivor with documented history. Meanwhile, I have since educated myself and realized that I need to have that doctor/patient relationship. I am looking for that doctor or clinic here. I am closest to Monroe Michigan or if need be I can drive to Ann Arbor or somewhere not to far away. I have had cancer and I am also my own caregiver, so I can grow my own 12 plants (or even be a caregiver to another). I am glad to have found this forum to help facilitate my learning and enable me to feel confident about WHY I would choose certain avenues over others. I want to be certain I am making educated decisions leading me down the correct path. Thank you.

  11. Kingdiamond--- thank you, I meant to ask that within my question I posted, as I sorta figured the State of Mich would somehow NOT allow a caregiver to use a PO BOX. I had thought of doing just that......so I guess I will proceed to get a PO BOX if I move in the direction of being a caregiver. Zapatos-----what u are saying is common sense. I am expounding past your thought and playing devil's advocate here. I am trying to be proactive so that hopefully I wont have to be very reactive-----if one attempts to prepare and use some forethought. thank you for your fast replies !!!
  12. Hello I am a caregiver for myself and looking to possibly be a caregiver to another person or two.....I am investigating first, of coarse to get my facts straight. I want to know if you have to disclose your address to patients. I really would prefer to take their medicine to them and not have anyone show up at my home or, more importantly, know where I live in case the patient(s) ends up being unruly, demanding or wanting things I am not legally able to do. Then if it were to not work out, that patient could move forward to another caregiver without any worry by me. For Instance, a friend of mine has a patient who is rather difficult and demands next months meds in advance and other requests which are not part of their agreement. It seems that the patient is mostly unhappy and I just would not like to have that scenario happen to me. More importantly, The last thing I need is a vindictive person who has ill intentions or creates problems. Thank you.
