  1. On this episode of Let’s be Blunt, Montel speaks with Haley Elizabeth Anderson and Mary Bailey about the recently released documentary, The Sentence of Michael Thompson. As canna legalization continues across America, so do canna arrests and convictions. Michael Thompson was sentenced to 40-60 years in prison for selling 3lbs of canna, and served a total of 26 years before Governor Whitmer granted him clemency in 2021. An estimated 40,000 people are still incarcerated in the US for canna offenses while canna-business has grown into a billion-dollar US industry. Haley Elizabeth Anderson directed the film along with Kyle Thrash, and Mary Bailey is the Managing Director of The Last Prisoners Project.
  2. Montel speaks with Len May on this episode of Let’s Be Blunt. Len is the author of “Making Cannabis Personal”, a guide on how genetics interact with cannabinoids to create truly unique experiences and the host of the “Everything is Personal” Podcast. He is the founder and CEO of Endo-Canna, a company committed to helping everyday people find the right cannabis product for their needs.
  3. On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel gives the keynote address at the Cannabis Science Conference West 2022. His keynote was inspired by his personal journey and the expertise he’s accumulated along the way as he talks about the work ahead for the industry and the future of the cannabis reform movement. Over the past two decades, Montel Williams has been among the cannabis reform movement’s most prominent advocates having become a medical cannabis patient after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999. Along the way, Williams has taken an active role in legalization battles in almost every state where legalization has succeeded in states such as Pennsylvania, Arkansas, New York, Florida, New Jersey, Connecticut and his home state of Maryland. Williams has also spent two decades interviewing a wide variety of stakeholders in the movement.
  4. On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel talks with Matt Zorn, Esq, a partner at Yetter Coleman, LLP. Matt is recognized as an authority on issues relating to the federal Controlled Substance Act and issues relating to canna regulation, even being named to the Law360 2020 Cannabis Editorial Advisory Board. Matt routinely speaks and publishes on issues relating to legal issues involving controlled substances. He was honored as a 2020 Pegasus Scholar by American Inns of Court. In one of his favorite areas of complex litigation, Best Lawyers in America named Matt "One to Watch," and Thomson Reuters' Super Lawyers recognized him as a "Texas Rising Star" in IP Litigation, Canna Law, and Administrative Law. Before joining the firm, Matt was a judicial clerk to the Hon. Rodney Gilstrap, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas, spending hundreds of hours in court helping manage one of the busiest trial dockets in the country. Before then he was a litigator with Paul, Weiss in New York City. He earned his law degree at Columbia Law School, and his BA in European History and Applied Mathematics from Emory University.
  5. On-Location Long Beach, California On this episode of Let's Be Blunt, Montel talks with Heather Manus, a registered nurse that specializes in medical canna care. Heather is a founding member of Canna Nurses Network, which is comprised of over 3,000 nurses. Heather works in training new nurses for the organization and expanding their influence. In this episode, Heather shares how she started off as a nurse, as well as what led her to holistic medicine and working with canna.
  6. On-Location in Denver Montel catches up with his friend Redman while they are both in Denver, CO for 420 celebrations. Redman talks about the song he dropped on 4/20 titled "Jane", the latest on The NCP, and his new role on The Dab Roast.
  7. On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel talks with the lead vocalist and one of the founding members of the legendary hip hop group Cypress Hill, B-Real. Cyprus Hill was the first hip-hop group to have multi-platinum and platinum albums, having sold over 20 million albums worldwide and garnering critical acclaim for their first five albums. All of the group members have advocated for medical and recreational use of canna for many years. B-real is the owner and founder of Dr. Greenthumb, a chain of canna dispensaries in California, and the host of a canna-themed podcast under the same moniker.
  8. Montel talks with Danielle Simone on this epsiode of Let’s Be Blunt. Danielle is a canna-mom working to destigmatize cannabis use, particularly for mothers. A few years ago she wouldn't have self-described as a "weed mom" but she's found her sparkle in writing about cannabis to inform, uplift, and occasionally challenge her readers while helping push the conversation forward. She is a freelance writer and the author of Weed Mom: The Canna-Curious Woman's Guide to Healthier Relaxation, Happier Parenting, and Chilling TF Out. Her articles have appeared in numerous publications including New York Times, The Week, Civilized, Vice, Double Blind, What’s Up Moms, and Scary Mommy. She holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MA from American University.
  9. On this episode of Let’s be Blunt, Montel speaks with Dr. Jordan Tishler about the importance of patient safety not being lost in the process of adult use legalization. Dr Tishler graduated from both Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, trained at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and is currently faculty at both the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He has spent many years working with the underserved, particularly providing care for veterans. Having treated countless patients harmed by alcohol and drugs, his observation that he had never seen a cannabis overdose led him to delve deeply into the science of cannabis safety and treatment. He is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of topics related to the medical applications of cannabis, and he is the President of the Association of Cannabis Specialists, which aims to educate clinicians, lawmakers, and the industry about best practices and necessary tools for proper patient care.
  10. On this episode of Let’s be Blunt, Montel speaks with Dr Corey Burchman. Dr Burchman received his undergraduate education at Cornell University, his medical degree at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and his residency and fellowship training at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is a nationally recognized expert on clinical cannabinoid therapeutics and has chaired multiple national and international conferences on the use of medical cannabis for therapeutic purposes. He is an anesthesiologist and pain management physician, having been in military, private and academic practice for over 35 years, and is also the Chief Medical Officer for Acreage Holdings.
  11. On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel talks with the Executive Director of Americans for Safe Access, Debbie Churgai, about the newly released “2021 State of the States Report: An Analysis of Medical Cannabis Access in the United States”. The report is compiled by Americans for Safe Access, the nations largest medical cannabis patient organization. Although we have made great progress in the past several years at the state level regarding patient access to cannabis, there is much room for improvement which the report details.
  12. Montel talks with Jeremy Smith on this episode of Let’s Be Blunt. Jeremy had a near death experience after medication he was prescribed caused blood clots to form in his neck. Lucky for him he was working in a hospital at the time or he would not be here today to tell his story. He suffers from Crohn’s disease and Eosinophilic Esophagitis. After he started using medical canna, he was able to decrease his opioid use from 14 a day down to 1-3 per day. 17. Cannabis has a special responsibility when it comes to social justice, because cannabis has a special history. To quote the Leafly report on social equity -Seeds of Change: Strategies to Create an Equitable Cannabis Industry - It is disingenuous to legalize cannabis and pretend that people of all races enjoy equal access to the opportunity offered by this new industry. Eight decades of prohibition have burdened people of color with targeted policing, arrests, and criminal records. In the present, venture capitalists and other investors, who are overwhelmingly white, often ignore, shun, or dismiss pitches from entrepreneurs of color. To make progress in the future, we’ll have to examine where and how we can do better. On this episode of Let’s be Blunt Montel talks with Josiah Young, a NY & CA licensed attorney with a passion for social equity within the cannabis industry.

It’s an immersive, multimedia artistic experience. The show runs from January 8, 2022-January 15, 2022 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre in New York City.
  23. A new study in the Journal of Cancer found that 42 percent of the 612 breast cancer patients studied said they used cannabis to relieve symptoms associated with their disease or the side effects of treatment, including pain, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, stress, and anxiety. Three-quarters of the people who used cannabis said it was helpful in alleviating their symptoms. 25. Not all cannabis is created equal. Different strains of cannabis produce different effects and thus can be used for different reasons. Most consumers have generally divided cannabis into one of three categories, indica, sativa, and hybrid based on the general outcome of effects that those products produce. However, industry experts are saying that the terms are really meaningless, that when tested in the lab there are NO identifiable characteristics consistent with these terms. What is generally consistent though, is the effect and profile from a particular strain. On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel talks with Leafly’s California Bureau Chief and Co-host of the Hash Podcast, David Downs, to learn about Leafly’s selection of the 2021 Strain of the Year.
