Sunshine mix is the peat base for soil

Well I think all them are mostly Peat...and need amending

So its soiless but that just means it needs stuff added

This thread explains it...Pick one of the two soiless bases...sunshine...promix...even Foxfarm...whatever

Then one of the nutrient recipes and mix accordingly...

That is basically what I am doing. My soil is Sunshine mix, worm castings, guano and lime. I feed with worm castings and molasses. I add guano to the tea as necessary. I guess I am trying to come to grips with the concept of hydro in a soilless mix and how it is different than "soil." I have only ever grown in soil and I am sticking with it, but what if I added 50% coir to the mix to lighten it up for smartpots? Would that be intermediate between soil and soilless? I want to strike the perfect balance between beneficial microbes and porous medium.

Read Burn One 's Thread...he's got a million pieces of advice

Lots of the best info...I would pick one of those formulas and follow it

...peat is basically soiless

Add what you will...That's how soil is built

Coir is soiless...

But I think coir is used on its own...you need to wash it first

Then people use liquid nutrients with it...like a passive hydro

Not that familiar with coir...but I know you must wash it real good first

Check Icmag...roll-it up...420 forums or ask local grow shop
