I have 2 girls from clones at 13 wks-I have tied them down & I think they are lookin good-I transplanted from 3 gal to 5 gal & they were quite root bound when I did that-so I decided to transplant again-a wk later-into bigger6.25 gals--again when I did the transplant they were full of roots--this sun will be 14 wks & I was planning on starting 12/12--BUT & here is where I really need ALL advice becasue I dont want to screw them up after I have brought them this far--Should I go to the next 10 gal (which looks awfully big) & let veg another week before I start 12/12????? I don't want to start 12/12--& be stunted by no room for growth-BUT I dont want to put them in the 10 gal & have them send all their energy to more roots???? Advice please!! I have pics in the gallery if that helps! Thanks

hi cartown!! the plants are looking good!!

well, as usual, its ultimately your call. if you have the time, patience, and desire, transplant them into the 10 gallon and give them another couple weeks for some monsters ;) or you could just throw them in flower right now as is. i honestly do not think they are as root bound as you may think they are. of course i can only go by what i see on top, but normally a plant in a 5 gallon bucket is a TREE before it gets truly root bound. and by tree i mean a stem bigger than a quarter/smaller than a half dollar and 5-6 foot tall. sometimes it is hard to judge size in pics........ but i dunno :P

no matter which way you go i think you are going to be just fine. whatever you have been doing so far they seem to be liking. B)

if a plant is truly, truly root bound, you will normally see the effects in the leaves.......... and i dont see that in yours.

Thanks! Yep pics are tricky as I have limited room-the stalk is the size u speak of--they would easily be 5 ft tall IF I had not tyed-I have hooks around the top oif the containers & am pulling them all outward-hoping to make the best use of the light source-as i have read that it does not penetrate 3 ft effectively-- I am thinkin they are lookin pretty good & if I would not cause any problems-like outgrown my light-lol-I might go to the 10 gals 7 see HOW big I can go-LOL--right now I just enjoy being near them & of course the smell!! :D Thanks for your help

Unless you are growing trees, there is no reason to move to larger pots. I have grown out plants in 3 gal. containers before and not gotten any better yeild in a 5 gal. There are growers out there that, just for sheets and giggles, have grown out plants in dixie cups, shot glasses and the like. The plants may not get gigantic, but the yeild is still good, if they are properly fed in that state. I shoot for vegged plants that are 18" to 24" tall, and into the flower room they go! I may not produce the amounts that others do, but that isn't what I am growing for, for me, it is more about the quality...not the quantity. Sure, it would be nice if I got 5 or more oz. per plant, but what on earth would I do with that much???...lol...guess I'm just a lite weight...poor, poor pitiful me...lol

Peace...j.b.

very well said. and no, you dont do things any differently than the majority of people. 18-24 and in to flower. so nahh.... you aren't a lightweight :)

those that grow monster plants have reasons. some good, some bad, and sometimes it's an honest accident. and as was VERY WISELY said, amount doesnt mean squat. quality over quantity any day.

show me a 2 pound plant indoors and i will be impressed for about 2 minutes. give me a bowl of meds that REALLY gets the job done, and i will be impressed for hours B)

What if I showed you a 2lb plant that REALLY gets the job done? :D I'd add to the responses cartown got but they're all dead on, I can't think of much to add, I don't think any 5ft tall plant is going to be root bound in a 5 gallon bucket. I've had 7'+ tall plants in 5 gallons and they could have probably kept

Also cartown, its totally up to you when you flower, but keep in mind you can finish a healthy large plant full cycle in 12-14 weeks usually, 4 weeks of veg and 8-10 weeks of flower. It won't be as monstrous as the plants you have now, but you still have 8-12 weeks flower ahead of you when you could have been through your second cycle. Not saying you're doing anything wrong at all, just food for thought.

then, sir, i would believe that you have have achieved "Master Cultivator" status ;)

haha, really it aint that hard........ just get a decent strain, veg it for 4 months, and just keep wrapping the branches in a circle around the walls of a 10ft x 10ft bedroom. B)

2-1000watters on a light rail does the trick

Morning " cartowngirl "

I wish you was up here by Me...

I would be happy to show you my Girls ...

I really do believe those " Smart Pots "

make a Big Difference in a Healthier Plant...

They never get root bound , Plus i believe they

allow the Roots to breath better ....

Plus i use " Pro Mix BX Biofungicide "

What really helped me is being in several other

Friends grow rooms to see how they are doing it ...

Sometimes seeing things w/ your own eyes is So Much

more helpful ... I 'm just learning too ...

You'll get some yield off those. They look great in the pics. I would put those into 12/12 right away.

yes. big difference. HUGE difference. it will pay for itself after the first harvest. if you have the $$ get the expensive bulb. more lumens, longer life, wider spectrum specifically for growing and not lighting a parking lot.

heehee. you will find that one you really start getting into it and playing with the nutes, you often end up with ugly/beat up/dead looking plants..... but with better meds ;)

Oh JOY! LOL--I sure wish my plants did NOT look so healthy-all I need is a bunch of garbage meds! I am hopin for the best- I have 4 clones from these & it should work out that I can put them into flower right after I harvest-if all goes well-& with the continued help from everybody here--thanks soo much!
