vender
Hello All, Happy Memorial day! I have a flowering plant that I have stressed the hell out of. I had to bend the branches because it was growing to fast and I broke the main branch, oops. Could this hurt the amount of trics? The buds are growing like mad but the trics on the leaves are not like the first time. I learn from my mistakes. Do NOT touch it in flowering. Thanks
rockinlespaul
I'm no expert by any means, but I would have to say it would definetely decrease the amount of bud/resin/trich production because it is putting all its efforts into healing it's wound. UrbanFarmer
Never experienced it, but I've read that you can stent it like u would a broken arm with a stick of some sort and it will b ok
Nemosity
Hell ya, put a splint on her! She'll heal up with a big knarly knot. It might slow things down a bit, but all that means is she'll run a bit longer, I believe. I have heard that if you treat a plant rough, smack her around and beat her up a bit she will produce more resin, BUT it will most likely diminish your yield as well. Just my two cents here. ----Nemo
+JuztBudz
Mildly stressing a plant will increase trich production. Trichs develop on the plant to protect it's reproductive system, increase when the plant has determined that something is going to inhibit sexual reproduction. That is why I put my plants in a darkened area for it's final three days of flowering. The lack of light is just the right thing to throw the plant into a shocked state, without causing it to hermi...Peace...j.b.
Grow Thread
I have heard that if you treat a plant rough, smack her around and beat her up a bit she will produce more resin,  i just couldnt resist this one. "hey nemo, i mugged this 5.5ft tall hooker in the back alley of the bar last night. i got her all tied up in my room right now. wanna come over, get REAL HIGH, break her arms, cut her up REAL GOOD, and then hang her upside down for a few days??" vender
Sounds good. Now the girl is only 40 days old and has cloudy and amber and clear trics. In equal amounts. It is suppose to take 60-65 days. How could it have amber trics already? Is it ready to hang? Seems to early to me but the microscope dont lie... Grow Thread
i'm sure that the severe stress your plant encountered has everything to do with your situation. you are right, the trichs don't lie, and i would wait until there are NO clear trichs in your particular case. obviously your yield has been compromised already. be 100% sure it's done growing more before you chop it. as always, my 2 cents............ worth a penny and a half to most and worthless to my wife B)
Nemosity
  As always Bubble, thanks for the belly laughs tonight!!! It was something that I read in the MM bible, and of course around the farm from a few folk. But I took your advice your daddy told you and I treat them girls right. B) I'll have to post some updated pics of the lady I shaved real nice and you guys in the help section help me tie down. She looks so nice now, and she's closing in on five weeks. edit: ..... and I'm on my way!! B)
Grow Thread
I have heard that if you treat a plant rough, smack her around and beat her up a bit she will produce more resin to be honest, it is true........... to a point. kinda like going to visit your local dominatrix. it's cool to a point, but if you forget your secret "safe word", you are screwed................... literally
THC-Farmer
Hello All, Happy Memorial day! I have a flowering plant that I have stressed the hell out of. I had to bend the branches because it was growing to fast and I broke the main branch, oops. Could this hurt the amount of trics? The buds are growing like mad but the trics on the leaves are not like the first time. I learn from my mistakes. Do NOT touch it in flowering. Thanks Sorry to hear about the slight mishap. It's ok, she won't die or anything. It will simply suffer from a period of stunted growth (including trichome development) and then will go back to normal. What will happen is all the growth that is above/after the break in the stalk will have severely stunted growth or unfortunately it possibly might even die. Everything above the break in the stalk will have much less development because the break in the stalk will stop the flow of mobile nutrients to the tips of the new growth. This includes Trichomes. The top half of the break in the stalk may not survive unless you prop it up and bandage it. You may want to do that. Stand the broken end of the stalk back up, squirt it the break point with some pH adjusted water (just 1 or two little spritz, don't soak it.) and tape/bandage the break up real well. She'll heal up nice and easy with minimal loss of growth. The rest of the plant will be just fine but may also suffer from slightly slower growth as the plant tries to mend/grow/heal the broken part of the stalk. Either way you look at it though there is definitely going to be some stunted growth throughout the plant. Depending on the strength of the genetics though, it could be anywhere from only 3-5 days up to 2 weeks of lost growth. So you may need to push the bloom phase out a little farther than normal(like a week or two longer), allowing the plant to finish and bulk up as much as possible. Trichome development will be affected in a negative mannar however, there is no way around it. But it may not be noticeable to you at all. Any time a plant is broken it causes a slow down in growth, like a hiccup, and then returns to normal. However this hiccup can require you to grow the plant longer for it to develope to it's genetic potential. During vegetative phase a growth stunt, such as a break in the main stalk, can be very detrimental to the overall yield... Gotta be gentle with the ladies. I have yet to see any actual scientific studies on trichome development and stressors and the interactions of both. Up to this point trichome development is just considered another part of the plant growth so anytime plant growth becomes slowed or stunted, also will the Trichome development.
