Has Anybody Got A Letter In The Mail Like This?

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody i just got my card in the mail a few weeks ago and then i got this letter in the mail. i got my card through Marijuana for life foundation with william runco. this letter seems shady.

"Dear Patient,

First we would like to thank you for allowing us to assist you in obtaining your medicinal marijuana certification. our patients are our priority and in order to protect your right to continue to use medicinal marijuana there are a few guidelines that we must follow. if you refer to the bottom portion of your physician certification you will see that the state requires the doctor to follow up with his patients to insure that your medication is working for you. if you aare receiving this letter, the doctor is requesting a check up. please contact us at your earliest convenience to set an appointment. the cost of the re-check visit will be $50.00. letters will be sent to the state revoking the certifications of any patients who don't comply within 60 days. we can be contacted on the number located on the enclosed business card or the number located at the top of this page.

Thank you for your cooperation,

MFL Foundation"

it kind of seems like this is bs because the doctor on this letter is different than on my physician certification.

are they just trying to get an extra $50 from me? can they really revoke my card? i have found out that runco is kinda sketchy from hearing stories after i went to his office.

thanks

chris

It is not required by law but the doctor has you over a barrel. I would expect to get continuous follow up letter from this doctor. So plan on $60 three or four times a year ( which would be fine if he will include writing new recommendations without other charges) or find a new doctor who doesn't play this crap.

yeah it really seems like it is a scam. i just called the doctor office that is on my physician certification and they have never herd of anything like a checkup like that. just once a year. the doctor office said they have had a few calls today about it.

That does sound mighty shady! It is definitely a hustle, but I think they may have you by the nads, because the doctor can write the state notifying them that they have changed their recommendation. If the doctor checked the box for 1 year on your application, that may be your saving grace. I would call them and ask what this nonsense is about.

OK

Now this really concerns me...

Your Dr's office really is the only one who should have your information.

Your Dr's office said they had gotten other calls about this as well, how did this other

Dr's office/Clinic get your name and address?????

The MMMP does not share it, I think there is a leak in your Dr's office!!!

I would express my concern to them ASAP

i got my card through the marijuana for life foundation and i think he moved to a different office and different Dr.

if it was the same Dr. on the letter i just got as the same Dr. on my physician certification it would not seem so shady. i have some friends that got there Dr. appointment the same week back in February and they have not gotten a letter.

thanks everyone for your help

avoid Runco!!!!!!!!! Met him before law passed and he was drooling about the opportunity to make money in the cross breed legal/illegal economy foisted on millions by a runaway bureaucracy and their corporate masters. A relationship with a doctor can be one visit a year or LESS. Just ask my orthopedist.

Sounds like a definite leak at the office. How else would your name be on a mailing list? Kinda scary actually. They obviously have your address and everything. Maybe even SS number. If they are writing you with scams I would be worried about identity theft.

This could also have been that someone hacked in to your doctor's system. I happen to work for a healthcare insurance company. Our security is top notch. Many of the hospitals' systems, and even worse, doctors' offices systems, are HORRIBLY lagging behind in security measures. It simply costs too much in hardware and manpower to really protect and monitor things the way they should be monitored.

I got a recommendation there and already got my card. then i got this letter. it is VERY threatening and unprofessional. So i called the office. talked to mr. Runco. He said that he was just doing what he has to as to make sure the marajuana is working for you. I asked why i had to come in and pay 50$ when i live 1.5 hrs away. he said to disregard the letter. I asked him how he knows who i am so he doesn't send a letter to the state... then he hung up on me...

i called back and asked to speak to the DR. so a DR. came on the phone and eplained that on the bottom of the physician cert. it says " ...if the patient ceases to suffer from the above condition, i hearby certify i will notifiy the dept in writing"

So he said he was making sure we were still suffering...

that was his response.

I told him the letter was very threatening and had a very harsh tone to it. It also was addressed "to Patient" so how would he know not to send letters to the state or to. he said he would fix the letter.. he then hung up.

yup....
