Advice Needed

Hello, I have a friend that insists that the dried algae is good for dirt growing, good nutrients, etc. I have another friend that says no to this, it will give the plants a bad taste and he is afraid of algae as he is a hydro grower. The algae would be coming from the shores of lake Michigan, sun dried and put into the dirt mix? Any help would be appreciared, whaddya say?

Maybe he meant seaweed? Never heard of algae.

I guess he meant seaweed, or cladophora, which is the green stuff washing up on the beaches.

I use liquid seaweed... I like it and its only $10 at the Hydro store spray my plants everyday.
