Elevator Arguments

Recommended Posts

Hey, thanks Knott,

I know I need some practice on the 'elevator argument', and I'm sure many of us could use some work in this area.

I find I frequently run into a roadblock getting people to move past their own anecdotal evidence, they frequently get stuck in stories like:

  • "My brother was hooked on crack and it ruined his life --- you're crazy to say weed is safe!"
  • "Man, I don't even remember the 1970's --- are you really trying to say this is safe for my grandkids?"

What's that saying? Oh, yeah:

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think.
