David1946
Each office of government requires the holder of an office to meet certain and specific qualifications necessary to do the job correctly. I won't go into them for each office but I will post what I believe are some qualifications that ALL politicians must have in order to hold ANY office. I mean lets face it there isn't but maybe a handful of politicians in any office who are there for us, the citizens. The other 99% are in office strictly to enrich themselves and a select few others at the expense of our nations wealth and our nations integrity in the eyes of the world. To hold office you must have; 1) Worked a minimum wage factory job for thirty six (36) consecutive months One year goes to quick second you either like the job or your looking to move on third year you really like it or you're ready to explode 2) Lived strictly off the wages earned at the minimum wage job Its a lot harder than they think and I'm sure a majority of community who would agree I do 3) Used only public transportation for twenty four consecutive months to to get to your job. That's it..just those three requirements in a politicians resume to be considered as a part of the qualifications needed to hold office. And come on now...I did it for five years and I know people who are still doing it after twenty years. Millionaires have no place running the country oh wait...working for us! They have no idea what its like working for a living. I can't stand it when some billionaire who has never held a wrench in his hand let alone used to feed and house his family say "I feel your financial pain" . I just would like the person asking me to send them to office at several hundred thousand dollars a year who says they are my peer and understand where I'm coming from well they actually come from where we come from not a gated community and as my peer I don't belong to exclusive country clubs I like open social contact with all colors. +Dizledot
I love your post! I meet two of the three but did walk to work almost a year quite some time ago. I think you make a very good point about some of us. "We" just have no clue unless we have had to struggle in life. Dizz
greenbuddha
Politics in America has become a 'profession' and most (except of course for you, Diz) are experts at getting themselve elected and there are thousands of 'political' advisors and 'talking heads' that make money off 'getting' them elected. I for one think your 'qualification' list is right on. The 'pols' in our country, 'right and left' have lost touch with the 'people'. knottwhole
Add mental competency test to your list and it's a winner. You see so many government officials these days that don't even know what day it is.

Now if I could find a few more like me we could really make a difference...

I'd fall over dead if ANY politician met those three criteria. The financial pain quip reminds me of the comment made a year or so back by some Texas oil guzzillionaire during the Tea Party uprising. "I worry about the struggle ahead for my children" What struggle?! deciding on which color Bentley to drive or G5 to fly off to the Islands for the weekend. Struggle? Please! The last thing his kids struggled with their sixth grade geography test they flunked when the wrote down Texas was the capital of America. Wild Bill
I would add that once elected they should be paid whatever the statistical mode for state wages. If the majority of the people make $25,000 per year, that should be the wage for the politicos. That would get rid of the ones who are there to get rich and save the taxpayers money. The founding fathers weren't paid at all. They took time off from their farms and businesses to serve their country.
