+mayorherb
http://www.clarecountyreview.com/?p=5956 Once again a request for help paying for Silver Ridge’s bill for preliminary engineering of South Road near Farwell has been put on hold. The matters was tabled for the third time by Surrey Township Board members at the meeting Tuesday evening. In 2007, Clare County Road Commission Engineer/Manager (recently retired) Steve Stocking explained, a federal grant was secured with Farwell Village, Surrey Township, Silver Ridge and the Road Commission agreeing to pay the local match. Since that time, Silver Ridge went out of business without paying their share, The grant paid $50,000 of the $97,915.15 costs to do a preliminary study on potential improvements to South Road and replacement of the bridge leading to the now closed Silver Ridge facility. The local match, $47,915.15 was to be shared equally by the Village, Surrey Township, Silver Ridge and the Road Commission, a total of $11,728.70 each (rest of story in link) (again maybe we could work it out to get this prperty for a cpl days..Might help pay some bills.)
