medical.gif Laguna Woods, CA -- Proponents of medical marijuana touted its benefits for aging baby boomers at a weekend conference in California. The Medical Cannabis Conference in Laguna Woods was the first of its kind in Orange County, where authorities have fought pot dispensaries, The Orange County Register reported.

Despite a 1996 California law legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, the county bans dispensaries in unincorporated areas, as do San Clemente, Huntington Beach and some other cities.

Laguna Woods Village, which allows dispensaries, does not have one, but groups run non-profit collectives.

Speakers, including physicians and researchers, described the benefits of cannabis and efforts at quality control and self-regulation. Some said ingesting the raw plant delivers medicinal properties without psychoactive effects.

Letitia Pepper, 56, of Riverside, who has multiple sclerosis, said she mixes marijuana extract with vegetable glycerin to form a liquid. When feeling pain, she squeezes a few drops under her tongue.

"People come up to me and say 'Oh, you look great,'" she said. Friends are surprised when she credits medical marijuana.

Anyone on this board, MS or other malady, with similar experience to Pepper's? If there is a Michigan "Letitia Pepper" mixing marijuana extract with vegetable glycerine to form a liquid we at Chamberlain Patient Lockers in SW Detroit would like to offer it to patients and caregivers. You store it in a leased locker and price it, storefront takes 20%.
