Where To Get Marinol Presciption?

I'm on probation and had a motion to allow medical marijuana use denied. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me of a doctor that would be willing to prescribe Marinol in Lansing or the surrounding area. Thanks

I would like a prescription for that also since I would think that in your system would not get you fired from a job. It seems you could smoke and if needed show you have a script for marinol. Not sure if that is prescribed very often though. Good luck man someone on here may know someone

Marinol is used as a 2nd line drug to combat nausea in cancer patients. They also prescribe it for AIDS patients that are losing weight or other conditions that cause weight loss. If you don't fit those categories you aren't likely going to get a script. It isn't indicated for use as a painkiller.

I have a friend that got a script for crohns but he had to fly to Cali...

Curious if you have a card ? They certainly wouldn't grant a motion otherwise.

 

The fact is Cannabis when recommended by a Doctor is considered Medicine. Don't see how they can deny you that. If you have your card you should be 100% legal.

 

Other circumstances might overrule my theory. Such as did they specifically deny it ? Was it a factor in your original charge?

I could be wrong but I think that its left to the probation officers discretion. (MMJ on probation) Some allow it, some wont alloy it because the first rule of probation is you are not allowed to violate any federal or state laws.

It is left to the PO, 99% of the time people in this situation get busted with marijuana then apply for their card to cover their own donkey.

Well after reading this it sounds like Marinol is good for asthma. I should talk with my regular Dr.

 

Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc announced the results of a Phase I study evaluating the safety and tolerability of pulmonary dronabinol administered in a one-time dose using a pressurized metered dose inhaler. Dronabinol is a synthetic version of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, which is one of more than 400 compounds found in the marijuana plant (Cannabis sativa L). The research was presented at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting in Miami, Fla.

 

The study found the new formulation of pulmonary dronabinol, delivered with a pressurized metered dose inhaler, provided rapid systemic absorption. All dose levels used in the research were considered safe in healthy young and elderly subjects.

 

Dronabinol currently is available as an oral capsule, marketed under the trade name MARINOL�.

In mid-2005, Solvay Pharmaceuticals will launch a proof-of-principle clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of pulmonary dronabinol delivered with a pressurized metered dose inhaler versus placebo for the acute treatment of a single moderate to severe migraine headache attack.

 

"Some oral medications are broken down by the liver before reaching the bloodstream, which limits the amount of the parent drug that is systemically available," said Jodi Miller, Pharm.D., M.S., Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. "The dronabinol metered dose inhaler provides maximum plasma concentrations within minutes, delivers a controlled dose and could offer an alternative for patients when a fast onset of action is desirable."

 

About the Study

 

A randomized, placebo-controlled study of 27 subjects was conducted to evaluate the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, safety and tolerability of pulmonary dronabinol after single dose administration via a pressurized metered dose inhaler. The population was divided into healthy men 18 to 45 years of age and men and women 65 to 80 years of age.

 

Doses of dronabinol ranged from 0.3 mg to 9.6 mg in subjects 18 to 45 years. Subjects 65 to 80 years received either 3.6 mg or placebo. Plasma concentrations reached maximum levels (Tmax) within 2 to 7 minutes across all dose levels.

 

Cognitive functional impairment and Bond-Lader Visual Analogue Scales (VAS) evaluation findings were minimal at doses up to 3.6 mg in both young and elderly subjects. At dose levels of 7.2 mg and higher in the young subjects, cognitive test battery results indicated moderate cognitive functional impairment and VAS declined in self-rated alertness, contentment and calmness. A dose-dependent increase in heart rate was observed for 5 minutes after 0.3 mg and 1 to 4 hours after 9.6 mg. In elderly subjects, the magnitude and duration of the heart rate increase was less compared to young participants. The most common adverse events included cough, somnolence and dizziness.

 

About Cannabinoids

 

Dronabinol, a cannabinoid, is part of a class of compounds called CB1/CB2 receptor agonists. Dronabinol and other cannabinoids bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endogenous cannabinoid system, a unique biological pathway involved in regulating nausea, vomiting, appetite, and other physiologic processes. Concentrations of these receptors exist in many brain regions, including the cerebral cortex, hypothalamus, cerebellum, brainstem and the vomiting center located in the medulla.1

trust me, you WON'T like marinol. I've taken it a few times, never enjoyed it. either you don't take enough to feel it or you do take enough and feel drugged and disoriented. it's not dismissable like cannabis. your uncomfortably high and its not going away till it wears off.

 

oh, I've been a chronic for almost 35 years. I know the effects mmj has on me and what to expect. marinol was different every time, never pleasent

LOL darn well I was wondering mostly due to passing drug test at work if I need to. I heard the high is crazy. I wondered if the dose was really low would it work for my asthma. I hate the side effects of my current asthma meds which I have cut the use to 75% thanks to good ole MM It is pretty much amazing what it has done for me.

I was on Parole in Michigan in 2009, shortly after medical marijuana was legalized in the state. I have Tourette's syndrome with both vocal and motor tics and my parole agent was very understanding.  After asking his boss to allow me to utilize the medical marijuana act and being denied, he gave me some good advice... He said that if my doctor wrote me a prescription for Marinol, I would be "Approved Positive for THC," and could not subsequently be violated for testing positive. He stressed that I could not be caught carrying or smoking it, but off the record, who's to say how I ingested it?  My parole status was then changed to non-reporting and I had no problems whatsoever from that point forward. I discharged parole on schedule and haven't looked back since.

Marinol turned out to be a failed medicine.  It only works on wasting disease and not even that well.  That's because it's THC synthesized in to a pill.  There are no other cannabinoids for that beautiful "entourage" effect.  It makes people feel edgy and anxious.   Do the whole plant medicine for better results.
