looks like many patients would not be able to grow under this house bill

Any registered qualifying patient or registered primary

15 MARIHUANA IN VIOLATION OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS ACT shall have

The church thing is totally bogus. There are rinky dink churches set up all over the place. They can open The Church Of The Dingle Berries and we can't grow near it? This thing just reaks of hate for patients. Gives you a look into dark hearts filled with hatred.

I have a question about the church thing. Why is a state that is part of this united states having anything to do with a church. Churches are about religion correct what the heck ever happened to separation of church and state!? No laws should be passed giving any special treatment to a religious organization. Just because we have more churches in this state than we know what to do with does not mean the state can sanction any of them.

I'm getting fully on the "think of the children" band wagon to say, "Fine, no MMJ within 500 ft of Church or Children, then no Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms, Pornography (Cosmo counts), Pharmaceuticals, Pesticides, Petrochemicals, Known Carcinogens, etc should be allowed within that 500 ft radius."

In for a penny, in for a pound...

MEETING WITH DARWIN BOOHER set for July 1st 2011 from 10 - 11 am at his Evart office unless numbers grow! This is not a protest or rally...This hour will be spent raising issues we all have with this possible bill...This is your chance to actually voice your concerns and be heard...I would like to encourage victims of the system to attend to brig awareness to the fact that police are already abusing the law as is! PLEASE ATTEND THIS!

Boohers Evart office- The best directions I could get for his office were it is located across from the post office in Evart...HERE is a link to the Post office home page so you can at least find the general area his office is located..

If numbers grow we will most likely use the Evart Town hall HERE ARE DIRECTIONS TO THE TOWN HALL

We would prefer a civil air be held during the meeting as I know that Senator Booher is not Anti MMJ..We dont want to attack so much as we want to inform and raise awareness to the major problems this bill could cause..

Thank You

Joe

I need input on what EXACTLY everyone finds wrong with this bill so when the meeting occurs I can do a brief overview of our problems with the bill..I want everyone to be heard and we only have an hour..

Joe

Could you make the case that a patient grower is not at all like a dispensary with a store front and should be treated differently? Some patients would like to be able to grow their few plants in peace without restrictions upon where they have to live. We are in pain and poor because of it. We can't afford to move. We need to be able to grow in our homes that are near schools and churches because we are part of the community. We should not be cast to the outskirts of town like second class citizens or risky businesses. We just want to grow our own medicine in peace. Why should we be singled out as growers? We know that the store fronts selling marijuana are intimidating. But we patient growers have nothing to do with public sales or flauting it out in public. We are just people that can grow their own medication quietly and respectfully in private. We would like to stay in the communities that we are part of.

This has to do with privacy. Privacy of information between a Dr and a patient. This has to do with the law saying the State Police must be informed of a card holder within 5 days of issuance (course the fact you get your card 5 months later is your problem), and that info will be shared with the local police.

That opens the door for profiling and say, the police put your license plate into the system it would also reveal you are a patient and/or caregiver.

The MSP and the locals have the LEIN system in place and functional, so why place MMJ patients in the same category of LEO notification as sex offenders.

Why pass this law if LEO can already access this info thru LEIN?

This bill has nothing to do with the House Bill that puts limits on cultivation near churches. Equally odious but not the same.

Now they will need to pass this by 3/4 correct? If my math is right that means we have to get 8 Senators to say NO. We need to target those who are on the fence. Probably Democrats as the Republicans will not be likely to change their minds on an issues that would make then look soft on crime. I guess we need to write those Senate Democrats and see where they stand if they have the balls to tell us the truth. Then target them to try and change their minds if they are yes votes.

don't hope on the Senate, the buggers in the Rethuglican Party already have a super majority. The contact with them is merely to create doubt.

The real battle is in the house where the R do not have 3/4 vote.

And then there is the forementioned D bill in the house to ban cultivation w/in 500ft of a church.

Daunting indeed.

Impossible, no fucken way

i hear ya man. and it shouldn't be a giant social event. it's a casual mtg with a state legislator which should be handled with the utmost care and respect. i would have to say that 300 people standing around screaming "moo poo" would probably not fly very well.

Set a meeting. I will talk to him. I don't know what I can tell him, except his law is illegal and will not stand up in court. You can't share patient protected formation without a court or administrative proceeding of some sort. Then the officer requesting the information, must present identification. So his law can't be implemented as written. There is an alternative that is safe for patients/caregivers and would help government identify patients before arresting or raiding them. I would of course discuss my thoughts with the community before proceeding.

The protest was the reason he was willing to talk.

I worked for Computer Science Corporation as a systems architect for medicare processing systems. That's why I know this law is illegal. I had to design HIPPA compliant systems.

You attempted to organize something with a couple of days notice. Our community doesn't work that way. Set aside a couple of weeks. don't blame the folks.

THE MEETING WAS MADE BEFORE THE PROTEST.

There is a meeting set already...July 1st 10-11 am in evart..Osceolacountycc.com for details

I dont really need a thousand people there the meeting is only an hour but we would like some support being that this bill could affect so many...

This meeting was set up a week before the protest so believe what u want..I am done on this site..I already stated I am holding the meeting with or without people...I dont think a rally full of people screaming B U L L S H IT in front of school kids is gonna help us with this meeting! People yelling leave me the f u ck alone into a microphone is not gonna help us... Anything my club does from this point on will be with our own means and with the help of other clubs if they still support our club after this...

MMMA is not responsible for everything that happens in this state despite what u believe...

I will be contacting Senator Boohers office to let him know how embarrassed myself and others are in the community after that rally as a matter of fact and plead that it does not change his view on us..

thanks

JOE

Wow, let me say it simpler then. The post calling for the meeting was made the day before the protest. Something like that should have been advertised for weeks. Finally, you've been for meeting with the legislature all along. Where has that led us? Into a trap, just like I knew it would, and that's what I said all along. You don't lobby your own rights away. The government was never going to give us a better law, just take rights away. This law is written so well, that they can't amend it, without breaking another law or violating the constitution.

Now, if the government wants to implement this law, with it's full force, I'll be happy to sit down with them and talk about implementation. Our rights aren't for sale. Thanks, Bb

Ok last thing I am ever going to say on here ever..You can say what you want the post was placed here the day before the rally there is a whole other thread on the CC area about the meeting called calling all compassion club leaders..If you werent so self involved and self import you would have noticed that the meeting is going to be held on JULY 1ST 2011 ... See its now may so not only did I announce it a few weeks ahead it was actually more like a month and some!!! Along with that for you to imply that your rally is what allowed this meeting to happen is just ridiculous..My VP of my compassion club is Senator Boohers nephew for one..Not to mention I AM FROM THE COUNTY WHERE SENATOR BOOHER GREW UP!! THAT is why he will meet with me..That and I was polite on the phone..

When I called to let him know we dont support the actions that occurred there IE SWEARING IN FRONT OF CHILDREN OVER AND OVER...They also informed me that a few folks went inside and got kicked out for basically what was ridiculous... I know many many patients right now that are very upset at what they witnessed at this event..

Ill take my chances with my meeting / trap as you call it..

Lets just hope these actions do not hurt the patients and caregivers in the future..

Please delete my account as well

i rather enjoyed this part of the new law dick, errr Rick wants to change.

TO DETERMINE WHETHER AN

21 INDIVIDUAL IN CUSTODY FOR POSSESSION OR DISTRIBUTION OF MARIHUANA

22 POSSESSION IS A QUALIFYING PATIENT OR PRIMARY CAREGIVER

note the words used "IN CUSTODY"

ie UNDER ARREST FIRST.

its bad enough they want to try to pass our private medical information around the world, but to say we are going to arrest you first, and them maybe we ll see if your ok per our LIST.

Lawyer up, time to go Private, with the MMA cards and record keeping.

A reply from Sen Tom Casperson, representing the Upper Peninsula. Royal ... well, you can come up with a colorful adjective.

Quote

Thank you for your e-mail concerning SB 377. According to the bill's sponsor, this legislation is modeled after the concealed weapons permit law where a person's certification is checked when they are stopped by police. This would benefit both law enforcement and those who legally carry a medical marijuana card. Right now the SB 377 is in the Judiciary Committee, but when it comes before the whole Senate, I will evaluate the testimony and look carefully at both sides.

B.S.! So when we're confronted by police, they immediately know (like CCW holders) that we're holding (either medicine, guns, or both!) Sounds like an easy way to find people driving "under the influence of drugs", walking -- er, "public intoxication", rollerblading "operating an unmotorized vehicle under the influence" ... what else do they want to stick us with! Write your senators, let them know we WILL WORK with the 63% of the people that voted in this law to get them removed from office

SHO, think about sending back a reply. One with one simple ?.

"How can a law about firearms, but used to address Medical Conditions, Medicines, and Medically Protected information under Federal HIPPA Laws?"

i would be very interested in this pukes, err Representatives reply? Id even recind the typo (PUKES) if he replys as he should.
