What A Tool You All Have In Jonathan Wolman.

What this person says...

The Detroit News has no credibility when it comes to reporting honestly and objectively on the Medical Marijuana law. You took a position against this law from the onset, and your reporting has been biased against it ever since.

There is one group, and only one group, of people who are adamantly opposed to it: those connected to the legal hierarchy who make a good living off of prohibition-related activity, and you are simply their mouthpiece.

They don't want to relinquish that which has brought them boatloads of money - taxpayer money.

In actuality, the people - those who supposedly run this country - no longer buy into the whole idea of locking up in jails and prisons - also at our expense - those who use pot for any purpose.

If you had even a speck of credibility left, you would look into those law enforcement "leaders," led by the self-proclaimed "top law enforcement official in Michigan," who all openly broke the law with their charade that they carried out under the guise of "Citizens Protecting Michigan's Kids."

The Michigan Campaign Finance Act specifically outlaws any public official from using any public resources, or their position of office to either support or oppose a ballot initiative.

But then again, you really don't care about the truth, do you?

What he's proposing is repeal in disguise.

If the state gets to regulate which doctors can write certificates and which vendors can dispense medication, then the administrative functions in government can simply refuse to allow any certifications or vendors to exist, or regulate it so tightly that no one sans terminal cancer patients can get their medicine - if they can even afford it. They love to invoke the idea that unless there's a life threatening physical wound, your pain isn't real, whether it be while justifying torture or withholding pain medication from the sick (migraine sufferers beware!).

Big business and government are corrupted to the core with cronyism; they love getting their friends in Big Pharma rich by forcing people to buy their crappy products. Look at the requirement we all buy health insurance (I hate it *and* I'm liberal), it just means feeding more dough into the pockets of private individuals. This same theme appears over and over. We all know they'll find plenty of loopholes to allow them to withhold care and make bank. It's all about making us pay a "tax" to corporations and powerful individuals by forcing us to do business through them at every possible turn, even (often especially) when it's contrary to our interests. This is why we didn't get a law that had our money going to doctor's directly. We have to pay some jerk a ton of money every month and then he gets to choose whether we get treatment even for life threatening diseases. They get rich by denying us this and letting us die. Our health is being destroyed by greed and the relentless desire for control by those whole supposedly espouse the virtues of freedom.

There is no reason to hand over medical marijuana to a private monopoly outside of the aforementioned reasons (allowing private individuals and corporations to collect what's effectively a "private tax" on us). Whatever happened to "personal responsibility" (growing your own medicine, taking charge of your own life!) and "choice" and "freedom"? It seems they only apply when they can be used to justify something that makes the rich richer and more firmly entrenched in their positions of power.

When it comes to medical marijuana, the mantra of the government is not "Land of the Free" but rather "Take No Prisoners." They would rather we die or live in agony than show PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY by providing for ourselves (growing) and invoke our right to CHOOSE our own treatment and to CHOOSE our doctors. The only time we experience true freedom under this government seems to be when they've made us lose everything.
