Of course, however it also provided shade, probably helped to retain some moisture, too. The area was typically involved with growing tomatoes. I did get confirmation that it's legitamate: " ...A marijuana patch of 120 hectares, by far the largest of its kind in recorded history of the fight against drugs in the country, was discovered by soldiers in the village Rosario, Municipality of Ensenada, Baja California. The new finding is also four times as large a field of marijuana located in the northern state of Chihuahua in November 1984, known as "The Buffalo''and was considered the first major marijuana plantation in the country. ..."
