Since when did opinion become considered leadership.

Liberty, as it is conceived by current opinion, has nothing inherent about it; it is a sort of gift or trust bestowed on the individual by the state pending good behavior.

DETROIT, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Conservative commentary in Michigan gets a new voice today with the launch of TheMichiganView.com. A product of The Detroit News, The Michigan View will bring together some of the state's best writers and political critics to provide opinion on issues that impact Michigan.

At a crucial moment in Michigan's history, the View offers opinion leadership from top commentators such as WJR-Radio's Frank Beckmann, The Mackinac Center's Jack McHugh and Ken Braun, Hillsdale College's Gary Wolfram, The Michigan Tea Party's Wendy Day, as well as Jason Vines. They'll supplement original material from The Detroit News expert team that includes editorial page editors Nolan Finley, Jeff Hadden, Manny Lopez and cartoonist Henry Payne.

Headed up by Payne, the award-winning political cartoonist, The Michigan View will be a one-stop shop for breaking commentary delivered with a conservative twist that is sharp, irreverent and witty.

"The Michigan View is the kind of commentary that I like to read," says Payne. "It will be funny, opinionated, points fingers and takes names. And it comes from people who know what they are talking about."

In addition to breaking commentary, TheMichiganView.com sports:

Payne adds, "Like National Review Online or The Drudge Report nationally, TheMichiganView.com will be a must-read for readers looking for conservative commentary on news impacting Michigan. Tart, honest and crackling with wit, the View will be an online opinion source on everything from Big Government to the Big Three."

The Michigan View is a product of The Detroit News, which is owned by MediaNews Group, and is part of the Detroit Media Partnership.
