17 Bills To Change Mmj Law

Recommended Posts

Just fired off my emails to my district congressmen: Senator Anderson and Representative LeBlanc. I sent one to Senator Anderson the other day and they responded about the Legislative courtesy of having my address to respond. Not sure if it made the cut, so I revamped it (after reading some more of these bills) and sent them off with my address. Was bummed to read about a coffee "hour" with Rep Leblanc the other day, I would have loved to go. I will now be keeping my eyes out for events like that. Good times to speak casually, sometimes "off the record."

I have this in my favorites for reference. I was actually checking it out last night and saw something interesting. Bill 618 is now about some school program or something, the original 618 is still there under 2009. Not sure if that means anything, but when I searched for 618 I got the new one. I got excited for second, but realized the old one was still there.

These bills are not going away and they probably have the 75% votes they need. It is critically important that everyone understand this.

Nut jobs like Senator Jones really hate us. Notice he and Schuette constantly show up in the media as a mutual admiration society.

Many in this community, including BB, attended the "mock" hearings that Jones held. He does not even attempt to hid his contempt for mmj. I was there and watched while he was totally rude to Vic Vicious (sorry only know his handle). Vic, a competent speaker and radio host, was there in a suit and tie, Jones refused to even hear his testimony. Jones opened his questions of Vic with, "are you on marijuana", then after a brief exchange refused to allow Vic to speak. In another exchange regarding making patient info available to officers in patrol cars, Jones offered his opinion as a former sheriff that this sort of info is critical, just as he would need to know if a driver he was pulling over had a ccw. WTF, he is going to become immediately addicted to the devil weed if there is second hand smoke?

In the two hearings I attended, there were 50 plus people. Most did not get to speak as he did not want to hear them and just unilaterally ended the hearings. He had something important to do.

Does not surprise me one bit that a republican didn't want to hear the facts, or the truth about cannabis. Most if not all of our employees in Lansing are in the pockets of big pharma and not until *WE REMOVE THEM ALL FROM OFFICE will things change.

*Goes for democrats to...Their complete silence on the abuses we are suffering at the hands of the repubelicans is unforgivable.

Walled Lake PD just added a new gym and shower room with money from the forfeit fund. The democrats tinkle me off as they stand on the side lines, but I think they are our best hope as they say they stand behind the law. I personally plan to back anyone that is going against Bouchard in 2012. Coincidentally Cooper is on my hit list as well.

Proposed changes and problem with change:

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB377 (gives police list of all patients and caregivers) Opens patients to abuse by police or people that get a hold of police list. Police don't need list, they can and many are knocking on doors and requesting medical card before raiding.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4661 (illegal to grow within 500 ft of school etc) This would not only limit caregivers but patients as well. Would make it to expensive for people with many medical bills to afford their medication. Medical Marijuana, doesn't affect schools.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB17 (outlaws compassion clubs) Stated reason is to stop people from driving while intoxicated. There is already a law against that and this is big government trying to stop a crime by outlawing a perfectly legal gathering.

http://tinyurl.com/2011SB504 (illegal to transfer around schools etc) Another big government law, its already illegal to have medication on school ground, refer to state law.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB418 (can't sue cities for violating mmj rights) Senator claims there are frivolous lawsuits, but doesn't name any. Is it a coincidence that police want a list of all patients and protection from being sued if they abuse them?

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB505 (excludes all felons from being caregivers) All drug felons are already excluded. There is no reason someone with three drunk drivings isn't safe to be a caregiver.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4852 (Have to follow local ordinances) Local ordinance could be that you can't possess or use the medicine your doctor thinks most effective. We should leave medical decisions to doctors. This doesn't focus on large grows and dispensaries.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4397 (Outlaw Compassion Clubs) House version of Senate bill.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4850 (Outlaw all but caregiver to specific patient transactions) This would eliminate all dispensaries and make it very difficult for patients to get medication for first 4 months of illness.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4851 (Bonefide Patient doctor relationship and touches on locked and secured building) Any doctor that would risk his liscense for $200 is foolish and if there is one he can be caught and dealt with with current laws. I don't need big government in my doctors office.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4856 (Open intox except with Marijuana) This is another big government attempt to stop an already illegal activity by outlawing a harmless one.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4854 (Makes it illegal to advertise as a caregiver) What is the harm in advertising? I don't need big government in my newspaper.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB506 (bonefide Patient doctor relationship) Senate version

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4834 (photo on card)

http://tinyurl.com/2011MIHB4853 (makes felony to sell to someone without card) It takes months to get card. This is a way to undermine the 20 day card rule.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB321 (insurance can't cover MMJ) I don't need my government to tell my insurance they can't help me.

http://tinyurl.com/2011MISB618 (only 10 companies can grow MMJ. SB616, SB617 Also part of package) This bill is insane.

To find a copy of the law go to http://tinyurl.com/3so28co

These are the opinions of WalledLakePatient and not any other person or group.

on the back of the 9/7/11 protest rally flyer and handed them out to a couple grow shops and such. I just threw like a hundred away that I didn't get around to dropping off. Thx for the props, and I'm so glad you took the initiative and got the petition approved in the first place.

Thankyou wclark,

Here is a letter I am sending to Representative Irwin. I think it will work as a template by editing the name in the first line, or by removing the specific name altogether. I welcome opinions on this as it is one of my first attempts at writing a letter to a representative. Usually just use emailomatic.

Thanks for you input.

Hello Representative Irwin, thank you for your service to the great state of Michigan.

I am a medical marihuana patient and feel the state has become very unwelcoming towards people like me. It hurts to feel sick each day, marihuana takes my nausea away and allows me to continue to pursue my life with a sense of normalcy. The recent decision by the court of appeals has left me sick, scared and alienated by a state I thought supported me.

Please take a strong stance against any and all legislation proposed that will limit access, or any patient rights. Please remind the Judiciary committee that the state has all it needs to implement the medical marihuana program and the current tactics by republicans like Rick Jones and Bill Schuette are just that, tactics that hurt the will of the people, and the states most vulnerable citizens, sick people.

Law enforcements recent attempt to further regulate medical marihuana in Michigan is a disgrace to their badge, as it targets sick and vulnerable people and is really just low hanging fruit in a state that has so many dangerous violent crime and increase in heroin use. Judges should be throwing these cases out and challenging the AG to bring REAL CRIME to them, the courtroom is no place to play politics!

Thank you, and please vote no on all of the following legislation you may have the opportunity to vote on.

SB 377 http://tinyurl.com/3n4acls (gives police hit list)

...I'm so glad you took the initiative and got the petition approved in the first place...

I can't take any credit for getting the petition approved. That belongs entirely to Richard Clement Sr.

I did jump in right away and create the Petition Instruction doc, and like you, try to organize the best info in one place and start collecting signatures right away.

Hats off to Richard Clement Sr.
