Dman
Does anyone have any creative idea's for a single grow room to partition off the bloom room? I have an idea that is just not coming together. It needs to be a stationary wall with no hinged door. Slider might work but how can I get adequate air flow between the two rooms. I assume I would have to have 8" duck fans one entering the Veg room from the Bloom room then have another from the Bloom room to the Veg room to balance the atmosphere. Then I would need to block the light which is easy but isn't there some type of fabric or mesh that would allow air flow but no light? Thanks guys This seams like a waste of space. This seams better but will the cracks be an issue?
Jipo
Why wouldn't a hinged door work? Are you going to cram the plants in there so tight you can't open a door? Then you wouldn't be able to walk through either. Where is the main entry door, couldn't you add a 2nd entry door in that wall and partition it the other way instead of splitting the room that way? Dman
I was hoping to have 1 entry to seal everything off. I guess I could put a separate door. But I can put the entry anywhere I need to. I'm moving from a cramped area already so I'm trying to make it spacious so I have room to work. Last area I didn't and things got very messy. (One reason for the move.) Is there a way to block the light from both vents? My last setup had vents and A/c in each room. I'm try to combind them so I can use 1 A/c, 1 Heater for both. jayt
When you run the ducts between the room just use a couple 90's in them. The light won't make it past them. You could paint the inside of the duct work and the 90's with a flat black to help even more. Then use inline fans to blow air through in each direction. Jipo
Use black nylons over the vent as well, not only as a screen for potential dust and critters but also to block some of the light penetration right from the start.
LongHairBri
as a suggestion, I'd make the bloom side as big as possible. as least 2/3 the space
Intruder420
I two struggled with the issue of having to set up a veg and flower room that shared air and heat but not light. What I was able to come up with was to use panda film to separate my spaces. I have a separate exhaust for each room how ever after some digging online I found these homemade dark room vent plans that are made out of thick black poster boards and are cheap to make. The 3rd pic shows the vent the exhaust from my veg room pulls air from the flower room that has heat and a/c in it through the homemade vent. the vent is really simple just a series of staggered baffles inside of a box with an opening on either side. It is important to seal the edges of the room well in order to get the vent to work properly (drawing air from the vent rather than from leaks in your room). Hope this helps It has been working great for me and plan to install a second T5 under the shelf in the veg room and stack my plants that are in veg. Feel free to pm if you have any questions about what I have done here Edited August 12, 2011 by Intruder420
Dman
How well does that black curtain work? It looks like you have Velcro for the opening and duck tape for the seams.
Intruder420
The black curtain is called panda film black on onside reflective white on one side it's light proof as long as you seal the edges. The door is made from a zipper strip with an adhesive back... Bought at a hydro shop 12.00 you just peel the backing stick on your plastic wall unzip it and cut inside the zipper with a razor .... However the zipper will leak light so you just make a flap in the plastic that lays over it...I used furing strips to make the frame doubled up the edges of plastic and stapeld them to the frame. Then used that foil duct tape to seal the edges works great. Only issue I had was that my exhaust fan was to powerful and I sealed the room tight so it was trying to suck the plastic off the frame just taped it up real well and works great
Hydraulic Jack
I did the same thing in my room only I used 2 (light tight) zippers.......I can roll the poly up out of the way when it's open then.....HJ
