In the video at the link above, Dr. Steven Newman, President of the Michigan State Medical Society says that Medical Cannabis is the only drug that requires a bona fide doctor patient relationship.

Federal law bars dispensing ANY dangerous medications without a prescription from a doctor who has a bona fide relationship with the patient.

He doesn't even know the law and he's this high up in his field?

You know, they still haven't identified the "dangerous" part of cannabis. All the "dangers" they have described have all turned out to be completely untrue. They used to believe that men who used cannabis would undergo breast enlargement (yes, they would grow mammaries). Imagine the disappointment of untold numbers of transvestites who discovered this was not true. It was also accepted as fact that cannabis would "fry" your brain. There is research now that suggests cannabis actually stimulates positive brain activity. The list goes on and on and despite all their efforts, cannabis is more popular than ever.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Stop the insanity. Legalize cannabis now.

  • 7 months later...

You know when Schitee introduces anyone (flanked by LEO) it is propaganda -- it is bought and paid for (you can imagine the conversations before the press conference...."....I'll scratch you back if you do this for Me...")

Most People know Marijuana is not dangerous, quite the contrary. IF if it could be easily studied the properties they will find to Help mankind are amazing. But it is Federally impossible in the past 70 years to do so.

They (Scientists) see what we go through just to use it (even if we grow it in our homes for personal use), so why would research Scientists put themselves and their careers on the line ? They simply will NOT, as no one wants to go through this crap just

to study something -- many other things out there (yeah, you hear the side-effects of some of these new drugs advertised on TV makes me wonder why anyone would even use them, they seem to cause more problems than they solve, but Schitte and his

ilk just want to sell the public something and most people are not equipped to evaluate drug studies and heck, with all those side-effects rattled off, it is amazing some of these "new" medications even are prescribed -- big bucks in pharmaceuticals.

when they can I think the good scientists will find marijuana is a incredible plant -- that helps, if not cures and destroy cancer cells (among the many other good properties it has, (simplest is its relaxing effect) -- these old guard drug warriors that want to bankrupt society, control people en mass, and locking everyone up that does not lock-step agree with them -- they are the entire problem (and not only for marijuana).

We are witnessing the prison industrial industry flex its muscles -- and Schitte sits at the top of it. Although we need good cops out there, most will not risk their jobs and careers to say "this is wrong" and will do what the Bosses say to do even it is kicking in GraMas doors (and of course they say GraMa has Ak47s in there).... most buy into the MJ is sooo bad anyway (very few smart cops out there).

BUT if you look at Portugal , that decriminalized ALL drugs in 2000, they have lower rates of abuse there than in most other industrialized countries that have the toughest laws on drugs -- why is that?

How could that be? legal and equal or lower rates of abuse? It just shows this drug issue has been badly handled since 1930 and the time has come to stop the insanity as most people now know MJ is

completely harmless for most people ......and if not, just do not touch it but do not say I cannot have it because of some old guys fears, that argument failed decades ago with Alcohol Prohibition (but they keep'yelling from the mountaintop it is soooo evil it will ruin society). They are all idiots like Schittee....

They ALL need to be shown the door and people like this Doctor are the worst as they will not even stand up to Schitte ---. At every election WE need to vote out people like Schittee and that means registering and voting by everyone -- the question "DID YOU VOTE TODAY " is becoming the most important question in our movement as we need to be active and stay active for life.....

Freedom requires eternal vigilance

Let us first be clear in knowing that marihuana is not a drug.

Then let us be aware that when we voted on the MMMA, we voted with the intent of our doctor, with whom we have a bona fide relationship, suggesting (not prescribing) the use of the plant. I think a definition of “a bona fide physician-patient relationship” is necessary for the medical use of marihuana because we asked for it with our vote.

Section 4(f) A physician shall not be subject to arrest, prosecution, or penalty in any manner, or denied any right or privilege, including but not limited to civil penalty or disciplinary action by the Michigan board of medicine, the Michigan board of osteopathic medicine and surgery, or any other business or occupational or professional licensing board or bureau, solely for providing written certifications, in the course of a bona fide physician-patient relationship and after the physician has completed a full assessment of the qualifying patient's medical history, or for otherwise stating that, in the physician's professional opinion, a patient is likely to receive therapeutic or palliative benefit from the medical use of marihuana to treat or alleviate the patient's serious or debilitating medical condition or symptoms associated with the serious or debilitating medical condition.

AND

Section 8(a) (1) A physician has stated that, in the physician's professional opinion, after having completed a full assessment of the patient's medical history and current medical condition made in the course of a bona fide physician-patient relationship, the patient is likely to receive therapeutic or palliative benefit from the medical use of marihuana to treat or alleviate the patient's serious or debilitating medical condition or symptoms of the patient's serious or debilitating medical condition.

I know that when I first read the Act and how the term was used, I looked of a definition

As the Michigan chapter of the AMA, I don't believe Mr. Newman is following AMA resolutions that are currently in place.

H-373.995 Government Interference in Patient Counseling

1. Our AMA vigorously and actively defends the physician-patient-family relationship and actively opposes state and/or federal efforts to interfere in the content of communication in clinical care delivery between clinicians and patients.

2. Our AMA strongly condemns any interference by government or other third parties that compromise a physician’s ability to use his or her medical judgment as to the information or treatment that is in the best interest of their patients.

3. Our AMA supports litigation that may be necessary to block the implementation of newly enacted state and/or federal laws that restrict the privacy of physician-patient-family relationships and/or that violate the First Amendment rights of physicians in their practice of the art and science of medicine. (Res. 201, A-11)

H-270.959 AMA Stance on the Interference of the Government in the Practice of Medicine

Our AMA opposes the interference of government in the practice of medicine, including the use of government-mandated physician recitations. (Res. 523, A-06)

Good point Cannalytics -- hope someone sues if the Bill passes (which is questionable as they need a super-majority which they do not have) , seeking to stop its implementation based on the rule, AND not to mention HIPPA.
