legacy
Inspired by Komorn's "friend or foe" thread, I've been developing a log of official elected by Michiganders. As they sign onto bills, make press statements, or reply to letters, I add them to the list with the respective citations. The file is going to be continually updated, so if you see anything that needs to be added or changed, post a reply with the citation. legacy
Love this, but am not understanding the link to the Birmingham City Commissioners. Is their inclusion as foes due to the ordinance they passed in April 2009? Should we post to this thread to help out? Definitely post to this thread. There may be typos or stuff that is wrong, so develop it as a community. The Birmingham City Commission minutes are in a pdf document that is not a webpage, so I couldn't post its link. If you start at that link and weave your way through, it will show the following: 04-100-10 ORDINANCE AMENDMENT VIOLATION OF LAWS PROHIBITED Chief Studt explained that the effect of the ordinance will prohibit marijuana grow outlets and marijuana distribution outlets within the city. He explained this ordinance addresses any conflict between the federal law and the state law. Mr. Currier explained that the ordinance is to provide a clear statement that the city is not going to allow illegal activities. He commented that the city is concerned with the federal controlled substances act which says marijuana is a controlled substance and still is illegal. MOTION: Motion by McDaniel, seconded by Nickita: To adopt an ordinance amending Chapter 1, General Provisions, of the code of the City of Birmingham to add a new section 18, Violations of Laws Prohibited. VOTE: Yeas, 6 Nays, None Absent, 1 (Hoff) To me, this sounds like the other communities passing "conflicting regulations" laws... that prohibit activities in violation of federal laws. It also sounds like the city commission is bowing to LEO instead of the voters.

bumrush
I just read something about Jack O'Reilly that seemed pretty friendly to the MMMA. He seemed to be opposing any changes at all. I believe it was the Ypsilanti Courier.
legacy
It really bothers me to see so many local communities fighting our state law. Edited November 9, 2011 by legacy
