ok i have been having a prob for a long time now same thing every time and i think i have narrowed it down to my water.i think that i am having a sulfer build up in my soil and thats causing all my problums...(yellow leaves purple stems poor growing sad looking plants lol}.so i think that the sulfer is locking everyything out... so now for my question...will a RO system filter out sulpher?,will running my water softener water threw a RO filter set- up hurt help the life of the filter?, how hard are these

RO filters to maintain?

pro mix soil fox farms nutes. i ph to around 6.5-7 i feed aproximatly 700-1000 ppm of nutes seems like a few weeks into flower things just startgoing down hill. it starts with a few fan leaves that are yellow between green veins...and trangresses to everything yellowing out and the new leaves start yellow with burnt blotchs..and this continues untill the large leaves start to curl down and fall off totally dries up...

my water starts out at around 180-220 ppm at a ph of around 7.5-8

I think your water is too hard. Probably causing nute lockout issues. Usually takes a couple of weeks to see effects/before the nutes are locked out. Shows up looking like a nute deficiency and feeding heavy will just make it worse. IMHO

A simple rain water collection system will solve most of your problems. Rain water's P.H is around 7.

I used it last year with great results. 55 gal drums are about 15 to 20 bucks on craigslist. And with a little research you can find a plan for making it into a collection system, I recommend the blue or black barrels.

You can cut your well water with rain water 50/50

One of the things I do is keep adding alaskan fish fertilizer right into the forth week of flower

force fed Nitrogen if you will

I f you go r/o you have to add back micro nutrients and calmag

Flush those girls well at four weeks wait a week and back on flower nutrient schedule works for me

It sounds like more salt lockout than anything to me

When in doubt flush em out

Not sure

It usually takes at least a week to see the effects from a thorough flushing

Sounds like the soil may have been contaminated but that's the thing about using soil

It works as a buffer which makes any changes slower to react

Hopefully you got it corrected

my well water comes out at around 151 ppm but I ph it between 5.5 and 6.5 in my plant with fox farms, I only use half the nutes it calls for, and I water it about once every 3 to 5 days aprox 3 gallons at a time, its in a big planter and was a mother plant for a yr so yea budding everywhere, im in my 4th week of bud I have a few pics i could put up, I never put the full amount of nutes in the water, if im in full bud and bloom (i use gh nutes) I use half of recomended and do it 2 times with nutes and than one time with only my well water ph'd to between 5.5 and 6.5 no higher, I am mainly doing dwc, but I didnt have anything ready for my budd room so my c.g brought me over this sweet mother plant raspberry cough! wed will be 4 wks into bud, i dont use ro, not saying there is anything wrong with it, but when its coming out of the pump at 151ppm im not doing the ro, if anything i keep a few gallons of distilled water around to lower my ppms now and than, I hope this helps!

Peace

Jim

edit = i always make up my next watering of budd and veg about 3 to 5 days before i need it, I put a bubbler in it and I test it every day, between the 3rd and 5th day the ph finaly stops jumping up and down and than when i pour it in its gonna stay stable longer! I dont have a big grow so when i fill my dwc buckets in veg tent, im in there at least 2 times a day and I have to usualy lower the ph every day for the first 3 to 5 days after that it stays put, something to think about.

ok so back to the RO ? will using my salt water softener system b4 running water to a RO system work...save on filter life? better wateror should i run raw water threw the RO filter all the time?

I use a 4 stage RO system that I, too, got from purewaterclub.com. Well I actually got it from ebay, but the purewaterclub ebay store. I have VERY hard water and the city chlorinates the snot out if it. I run my RO after my water softener with no problems. I can't really say how it impacts the life of the filter as I've always run it this way.

Are you using the blue bottle of Grow big?? You should be, the green bottle has less micro nutrients in it because of the amount found in most soils. Pro-mix lacks those micros so you should be using the hydroponic formula.

Also, when I use fox farm, the plants will need a shot of nitrogen going into flower so I would reccomend continuing the veg nutes until you get the fuzzys (as I like to call them)
