PORTAGE, MI -- One man was hurt, marijuana plants and money were taken, and two of the victims as well as the alleged robbers fled before police arrived at a home invasion at a Timberwood Court apartment, 560 Thomas Ct., Thursday night.

 

According to a news release from Portage Department of Public Safety, a neighbor called police at about 10:30 p.m., alarmed at a ruckus next door that included the sounds of shotguns being racked.

 

The investigation revealed that an apartment was forcibly entered by three men wearing hooded sweatshirts who appeared to be in their early 20s. Two of the suspects brandished shotguns; a third had a handgun. They demanded money and drugs, and made off with a quantity of each.

 

Two of the men inside the apartment were able to escape by jumping off the second story balcony. A third man remained in the apartment and was struck in the head with a shotgun.

 

The area was searched with the assistance of a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety K-9, however none of the men were located.

 

Sgt. Michael Collier said the victim claimed to have a medical marijuana license; that has not yet been confirmed. One of the victims who left the apartment has an outstanding drug warrant, Collier said.

 

The entire incident has been turned over to the detective bureau to sort out, Collier said.

 

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the Portage Department of Public Safety at 329-4567 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.

Cannabis in its mature form is good as gold a hot target for quick cash for criminals this victim likely let the wrong person know that they were growing and those people bragged or flat out set them up its not cool or smart to show others your cards or bragging about your garden the less who know the less chance of something like this happening use a PO box for your patients so even they don't have your address trust no one you wouldn't die for.

Best advise I have heard. always take stock of whom you are considering being a cg for. Age, type of disability, demeanor etc.

Never let a new patient see your grow in person. Remote viewing is a good thing via the net. If they insist on seeing it in person then reconsider your choice.

Honestly i think that the right to bear arms subject will be the thing that ends marijuana prohibition all together its one thing that a majority of Americans agree on and its ridiculous that the DEA would push that agenda in the end they will lose or start a revolution .

no need to worry about a revolution starting over cannabis and gun possession. the revolution is being instigated over gun control for all (gun confiscation to the Gov) and is being heated up by the Crashing of the World Financial Market. We would already be revolting if the Fed Wasnt printing money hand over fist trying to stave it off until they have everything in place to push for the gun grab....
