LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan lawmaker plans to quickly introduce a bill to legalize medical-marijuana shops after the state Supreme Court said they're not allowed under a 2008 law.

Republican Rep. Mike Callton of Nashville says he's concerned cancer patients and others won't have access to the drug without dispensaries.

He says many of the state's 125,000 medical-marijuana users can't grow their own and there aren't enough caregivers to grow it for them. Callton says patients will be forced to go underground to find pot.

A similar bill went nowhere last year, but Callton says the issue is more urgent after the Supreme Court decision Friday.

Here we go again... not enough caregivers? then introduce a bill allowing caregivers to service 10 patients instead of 5.

Cancer patients need meds that are not riddled with chemicals. most dispensaries do not know or care how it is grown as long as the price is right to make a profit.

"Patients will have to go underground to find pot?" just more BS How does he come up with this bunny muffin statement. doen't he realize how many caregivers are looking for patients? Stop scaring cancer patients... Blood boiling by these outlandish statements.

think you can get more people to rally than the unions did? Or the teachers?

highly doubtful...

and please note, the unions and teachers mass protest had exactly ZERO effect... the bills they hated were passed...

I agree with you Bob, we need to fight for maintaining our current rights as patients and caregivers.

I did some looking into this guy. There are Youtube videos of him speaking and with patients. This might be a guy that all patients of Michigan would be interested in looking into. Don't fall in love with him on first sight of course. Simply look into him and examine him as a man and a politician. Dig up what he has voted for and against in his history.

We need to get all Republicans out of Lansing, period. Anyone who doesn't realize this yet is hiding their head in the sand.

I usually don't say we need to get "Republicans" out of Lansing,... i would simply say we need to get THESE republicans out of Lansing. :-)

Real change won't happen until we change the conservative mindset. We need ....*gulp*... progressive republicans to move to the forefront of republican policy. :-)

We can get Democratic votes. We just need like 30% of the republicans.

Not In one day or in one week or anytime soon they all think they can use the AD lol

Not yet but soon they will be able to we all will be able to IMHO

Section 8 will NEVER let you have more than 5 patients. Why would you be limited in 4 if you were not in 8? Anyone thinking that a section 8 is going to be the holy grail for dispensaries just isn't thinking.
