Middle location I'd say is Grayling area.... The bridge (mackinaw city) is not even close to being central... Grayling is fair for Detroit people,Escanaba people and even closer for Grand rapids area...

How far is the bridge from Detroit?

I have to drive east for four hours to get to the bridge before I even go south over it. There are others from here that are interested, but not if we have to drive too far from the bridge.

According to this site the geographic center of the state is in Wexford Co. , 5 miles NNW of Cadillac . Although it probably isn't the center as far as the time/distance it takes to get there from all points . It is 6 hrs. to the bridge from Detroit .

Meet in A2 25 dollar fine for smoking if the local police even bother to write the ticket. Just looking at it from the legal point of view although I am sure there must be some sufficently isolated area where no one can tell you ae roasting fish.

Is anywhere more neutral than Belle Isle

Glennie isn't anywhere near the middle of the state. It looks like it might be close to the middle of the lower peninsula. If you live in Ironwood it takes eight hours just to drive to the bridge. I don't think a lot of you guys from the LP understand how big the UP is. I live on the west side of Lake Michigan. I can walk to Wisconsin from my house, and it still takes me 3 to 4 hours to drive to the western state border from here. We have a very active MMJ community here and I know several people that would be interested in a meet-up. I'm not sure how far I can get people to drive though.

Maybe we should have more than one meet-up. Have several events in different locations.

I have met a lot of people from these forums.

Everyone has been really cool.

Would definitely be up for a picnic or camping trip.

The Huron National forest has some really scenic areas around Glennie by the Au Sable and Pine Rivers.

You got that right and im only 20 milse south of glennie in hale, I have free spots in the national forrest within walking distance of the river, we walk the trail to the river and tube to the bridge which takse about an hr and a half, we park a car at the 4001 bridge landing and let the air out and come back in the vehicles, I bring my air compressor and generator, no one comes out there, its a pretty big spot and has plenty of room, if we go there the right time it has the biggest black berry patch ive ever found in the wild!

Peace

Jim

It would be awsome to have one in the u.p I think, Ive had nothing but a good time when ever ive been up there, but ive not gotten over as far as you, been mostly on the east side of u.p tequinimum falls, paradise, bay mills for snow mobiling and gambling ye haw, I am north west in those pics, I was messing with my zoom, my feet are standing in the same spot on both pics! On our way back from bay mills and a snow mobile package from their casino!

The Alpine Medical Cannabis Society (about 7 miles North of Gaylord and 45 miles south of the bridge) would probably be willing to help organize/help host a "no agendas get together".

We do have a building/meeting space that is privately owned by a founder. (depending on the # of people planning to attend)

Many other options exist as well.

I just thought I would toss the possibility out there as Gaylord was mentioned.

Hello imiubu, mibrains, and everybody else. I am doing fine. How about an update on Tarzan? Hope he is doing better.

I am willing to drive wherever the get together is. Me and my girl love to get in the Jeep and drive across the state.

And I will sign up for darts. It seems to be a game I can play and keep my anxiety levels down enough to play a good game.

Thanks

Wozer

And if you can schedule it around any of several counties that offer trout streams (Crawford or Antrim Counties are good), days adjacent to the last Saturday in April, and not to include Monday and Tuesday, might be okay.

we are looking at reserving a couple of spaces...

we are shopping prices and options...

hope to hear very soon and offer some choices for this event..

i am actually really excited about meeting new people and seeing old friends as well.

darts sounds great.  there will be tons of fishing nearby... so many lakes, and small trout streams...

i dont fish...or hunt anymore... no patience.. but i know many who do.. and will ask around before the event for advice on areas...

i will try to set up a card tournament also...sounds pretty fun..

i like cards...

i was in the army so i can play some.. :)

more information soon everyone..

have a great evening !

You can camp in Michigans National Forests Free,as long as you aren't in a campground.Sounds like one meet-up for the below the bridge trolls and one fer da Yoopers would be the Plan.Sure everyone could go to the other one,but like those who have to drive from the western end of da UP - it is quite a drive just to get to the bridge.Possibly during the week with alot less Traffic - I'm in!

I know where there are some big spots for many campers and tents in huron national forrest alcona county, the river is very close and so is alcona pond/darn, no one even comes out to the ones I know of, if your healthy enough there is good tubing, kyaking and canoing, I have 3 kyaks and a trailer that will hold many more, all i have for the pond is my 4 seater paddle boat, its a 5 seater but ya need room for your gear lol!

I also know where their is good state land we can camp on for free right on a few rivers, the cut river in roscomon county and the muskegan river in the county east of roscomon, cant think of the name of the county right now, but merrit speedway is in that county, all free camping! with good fishing!

Peace

Jim
