Ph Problem And Leafs

To start off im using fox farm soil with general hydroponics 2 part mix.vegging with 8 bulb 4 foot t5 fixture.the temp is right around 74 to 80 depending on how how i have ac. Humidity is around 50 unless I spray with water then goes up to 60. well I just put a few into 5 gallon pots and their first feeding with the GH two part mix on monday.I looked at my plants before work and noticed a few strange things.

1. A few plants have all purple stems and branches.

2. 2 of them have browning of the leaves and some curling.

3.when I put in 5 gallon I noticed some of the roots at bottom had a few spots of brown.

Now I bought a cheap ph test kit came withba vile and some drops to drop in water if that's accurate my ph is 9. So with the last feeding I bought some gallons of kroger distilled water. I have not checked the ph from the bottled water. I will post pics when I get off of work just wondering if you guys could give me some ideas what it could be.

The purple is probably from the plants getting colder.  What's the weather been like where you're at?  Last week it was getting into the 40's at night up where I'm at.

 

Curling can be from over-feeding.

It's been high 50s low 60s my light and ac go off at night time.

Your ph is way off and its locking out your nutrients. Get your ph around 6.3ish. With the vile ph test kit i try for inbetween 6 and 6.5 but that is just me.

Yea I figured that im just not sure how accurate the test I bought is but I think im going to buy some ph down

I use the general hydro vial test kit. I usually never have a problem unless i overfeed but some strains like lower/higher ph then others so know ur strain.

Your water, when growing in soil, should be around 7.0, if your soil is at the proper PH.  I make sure my soil is right first by adding dolomite lime.

Do a quick google search...my advice...leave fox farms soil in the dust and buy some promix or sunshine mix 4 and a ph meter.

I would like to buy promix how ever I dont really have the space to mix or store all that soil. I wasn't going to use ff the grow shop was sold out of the other stuff he recommended and I turned down the promix due to not having the funds to buy all the additives

You can buy half bales at Menard's and mix inside of a large plastic storage bin.

Every one told me about kiss method and all that goes into it seems like alot and dont really have space to mix them all up and store all that soil when I buy a bag I use it all that day

Make sure you buy a good PH  pen those stupid drops never worked for me my blue lab pen is awesome and very helpful the brown leaves what part of the plant are they at if its at the bottom that just might be that its not getting any light penetration in that area of the canopy.

I stopped at the shop yesterday and he told me it was Cal mag so I gave them some of that with some PHed water. as far as buying a ph meter ill get one when I have a extra 100 dollars.

They had one at grow shop for 35 but two stores told me that one isnt very accurate and you have to calibrate it for every use

Yah, its best to get a good one, blue lab or something similiar. I have a green one ...eco ph1 i think. Been pretty solid for over 4 years.
