Moms Group Plans To Protest Outside Dhs With Video

Dozens of Michigan families are expected to gather outside the Department of Human Services in Lansing today demanding the state stop removing children from the homes of licensed medical marijuana caregivers.

 

The case of Steve and Maria Green will be front and center today. "Michigan Moms United" is rallying around the couple, calling on child protective services to return their daughter Bree to them. She was removed from the home by an Ingham County Court. A family court referee said Steve and Maria Green's home was too dangerous because marijuana was grown and consumed there.

 

The referee said homes where marijuana is grown are often robbed at gunpoint. The referee used Amaya Edmonds death as an example she was accidentally shot by her step-father, Lavar Burton, during a home invasion in 2010.

 

According to court reports, Burton was a known drug dealer. Maria and Steve Green say the fight over their daughter Bree started after the father of maria's young son filed a complaint arguing the Green's home was unfit for kids because people smoke marijuana there.

 

Child protective services got involved, and family court in Ingham County made the decision to remove Bree from the home. Michigan Moms United says today's press conference is to demand the state abide by the Michigan Medical Marijuana act, which they say is supposed to protect families.

This seems WAY too much like a show I saw on Sci-Fi channel about a crazy evil government run amok.  I am sorry if this offends some, but the whole idea that a our government has the power to take children away from a good, safe home because of lies and corruption and greed severely sickens and appalls me!

It also sickens me that the voters of this country could turn a blind eye to this behavior and keep electing social conservatives that advocate these policies for the last 30 years.
