Criminal Defense Attorney Killed In Car Crash

We're following developing news out of Saint Clair Shores.


A local attorney is killed in a car crash. A colleague tells us Corbett O'Meara died after he was involved in a crash Saturday afternoon. We don't have many details yet. O'Meara is the son of US District Court Judge John Corbett O'Meara.


We're working to learn more about the fatal crash. We'll bring you more information as we get it.

53% (1,020 out of 1,941) of all fatal accidents between 9pm and midnight were alcohol related in 2010. Things get even more treacherous after midnight. From 12:01 to 6am, alcohol was a factor in a full 71% (1,466 out of 2,069) lethal crashes.



But since fatal crashes happen in “ones and twos” scattered across the country, the general public doesn’t realize their collective toll–about 110 people per day, nationwide.

“If a hundred-seat airplane were crashing every day in the U.S., the air transportation system would be shut down with demands for the government to do something,” Rader says. “But that doesn’t happen with auto crashes.”

Instead, drivers are left to look at how and when fatal accidents occur and try their best to stay off the road at the most dangerous times, as well as make sure they’ll focused solely on the road regardless of if they’re driving in dangerous conditions.
