Marijuana Usage May Decrease Suicide Rates

Recommended Posts

Researchers from Montana State University, San Diego State University, and the University of Colorado-Denver are saying marijuana usage may have a direct effect on lowering suicide rates for men from 20-39 years old.

From 1990 to 2007 researches analyzed 12 different states that had legalized medical marijuana at the time. During the study, data showed that suicide rates were nearly 11 percent lower where marijuana usage was medically legalized compared to states where the drug was not.

The authors of the study say the relationship between marijuana legalization and suicides among young men are consistent with  the idea of marijuana being used to cope with stressful life events. However,  alcohol consumption was considered a factor as well.

Besides Washington and Colorado legalization, 18 other states permit medical marijuana usage.

i like the alternative reading of this study:

'pot heads game 17 year study: kill themselves in higher numbers in states where marijuana is illegal'

its all a secret conspiracy of the ACLU, MPP, ASA and other pot groups.

they find suicidal young men and ship them to states where marijuana is illegal.

thus screwing up the suicide statistics.

also they work harder in suicide prevention centers in mmj states while also sabotaging suicide prevention centers in non mmj states.

yes the above is satire.

More people now die of suicide than in car accidents, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

mostly white men who commit suicide.

i wonder what the statistics would be if they omitted military suicides?
