Should I Be Worried?

Recommended Posts

I received a notice from my town that my water meter sending unit isn't working, and that they have to come out to replace it. The problem is that the meter is in my basement, in which I have my grow rooms. I plan on removing anything that would suggest that I'm growing mmj, but my rooms, fans, and ducting will obviously remain. Could I be held liable for letting other people in my grow area? Any suggestions as to what to say if asked about my rooms or any odor? Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.

As long as they cannot get inside your properly secured closed, locked facility, which you do not have to and should not explain, you should be okay. It is not necessary to worry about the hardware that is visible if it is up to code. Besides. Just show them your prize tomatoes. They'll never know the difference.

lots of patients with the same problem here on the forum. some let them in the grow room, some move everything.

i wouldnt worry about letting water/electric guy into your room. aside from him telling his buddies anyhow...

Whatever gets you through the night.

Is it possible to get to the water meter inside without going in the grow room?

I have my two grow rooms in my basement, where the meter is. The rooms themselves aren't locked, as they're only made of Panda film. The lock is on my basement door. Fortunately, the meter is right next to the door, but inside the basement. I asked if I could install it myself, but they said that the meter has to be synched with their hand-held computers. I suppose my main concern is what T-Pain said, that they'll tell their buddies. I know some of the city workers and may know whoever does the job. I just hope they keep their mouths shut. The authorities here aren't very friendly to mmj. I discovered that when my newest patient, who lives in the same town, told me he was convicted of a felony and received a 5 month jail sentence for the terrible crime of leaving his grow room door unlocked. No warning, no fine, just a felony and jail.  Due to his health condition, he served his sentence under house arrest. Under such circumstances I certainly don't want anyone other than friends and my patients knowing that I grow or use. It's a shame that many of us have to live this way. Hopefully, that will change in the future.

Hey, maybe I'll just buy some tomatoes and line them up on my table down there  :P  Might keep questions away.

Temporarily relocating the grow and adding tomato plants sounds like the best move. I believe the odor of tomato plants is quite strong.  Might as well go for broke.  Also, pick up a bouquet of the stinkiest flowers you can find at the florist and stage them near the meter.  For an additional layer of scent, fry a pound of bacon in the kitchen before the worker shows.  Be sure you offer the guy a BLT for the road.  :)

peace of mind worth great effort. do not risk letting someone know you grow. they will talk, tweet and who knows what else. If we ever get a chance to grow I am frightened because I need home health care for Alzheimer's and nurses come in and out. This is a shame. How is it legal and people live in fear of having police come.

don't trust any one, trust your GUT and the people who moved it all are relaxed. don't be worried, be smart by listening to your worry and protect yourself and the people you are helping. Please.

I've known more than one nurse who grows, and several who used cannabis for many years. I would not fear a nurse tending to Alzheimer's needs, but I would forewarn them, so as not to embarrass them or make them feel uncomfortable. Its kind to offer to not use it or discuss it in front of them, or to tidy up before they get there.

I wish you the best !

funny though, my parents didn't use metal halides and giant t5's and sophisticated walled off rooms and stuff to start plants......well, one of them did, but that's different.. nurses and meter repair men are  smart kind people generally, and they know much. watch closely, for the smirk when they glance your cover up...hehe.

Know that they would like to be there to help you enjoy your crop rather than check your meter. Your friendly smile might make for a new friend.

Thank you, I'm sure that is true. once I have my card straight I will tell husband to clean up every morning and night. I want them to know as I am advocating for Hospice (used to volunteer) to get meds into patients...their concern is not being able to quantify (?) a doesage, or know of purity of strain.I am racing to change world so as I go down this road of dementia no one will screw up plans to be ina nice recliner watching my bird feeder, dog at side, feeling creative, writing some poems, working with my flowers, reading a book, calling my grandkids (OK, but you never know, I might still talk next year) and having my husband relaxed around me, nice to me, a place for a friend to come sit on the porch with me. I have a good library for Alz patients and families.

Hard to get started so I write about it on forums. With right cannabis I could work at a project. I had one bud of an unknown strain and one puff got me out of bed with a desire to clean and sort. I cleaned things I had not been able to clean in years. I got rid of stuff. I painted basement wall. Realized the gas water heater was leaking - no one knew what it was called or where it came from. All gone. But something that makes my brain accept a saddle for awhile so I can use it gives me greeat pleasure. Ever use herb that was super good for working on projects? Love to all

get a vaperizor, every time I use my vape I get motivated, I truly do, but that is me, Ive had other pt's actualy get sick from vaping, they could not handle the effects!!

when I lived in the detroit area they came and moved all water meters out doors so the meter reader could read them whether you are home or not,,,,maybe check to see if they have the out door ones,,,but than they have to hook it up,,,,,id get me some tomato plants and a few other plants, to put down there, the only thing that would worry me is bugs from the plants!  Im sure some one with more experience than I can suggest something pertaining to bugs!

Any whoo I would be on the meter guy like flys on shiet, people usualy dont like people looking over their shoulder at their work and tend to get done quicker! or they do what I  used to do and just stop and talk until they leave, sorry!

Best of luck

Peace

The guys came today, and everything went smoothly. No comments on my basement. I cleaned out everything that would suggest I'm growing and unscrewed the two light bulbs on the far end of my basement (it's fairly small) so things on that end wouldn't be noticeable. I turned off the fans and stuffed rags into the air inlets, then opened the door and let lots of fresh air in. Now I have to go put everything back together. Thanks for the input everyone.
