What A Bite In The....

when cash was accepted in the mail it was often "lost" creating an uncomfortable situation for the receiver. To top that off, postage stamps, loose change became troublesome.  If anyone has urges to revisit those good days send your cash to me. I'll take one for the team and manage the inconvenience of accepting cash today.

I hear the court must accept coffee beans as payment for monies due. I'd sure like to see that one.

Money is a way for "them" to accumulate way more than one would ever need.  I think we should go back to the barter days.  Then the gov't wouldn't ask so much of us.  When it becomes more of a burden to accumulate wealth, wealth won't drive all of our decisions.  I'd love to be able to pay my electric in chickens.

i'm wondering how LARA can refuse to accept cash?

isnt it the law of the land to accept cash?

I think ur right.

"This note is legal tender for all debts public and private."

True that.

Reminds me of one of the old stories where some1 pays for a big ticket item with all coins out of spite.  There was just a story in the news about a month ago where some dude in China paid an assault fine in all coins. It took 18 workers a full day to count all of the coins. Here's a link to a picture of the pile of coins. Funny. http://www.businessinsider.com/chinese-man-pays-for-assault-charges-with-dimes-2013-8

There are urban legends of people buying cars and stuff with a pickup load of coins. I don't think coins are legal tender though but at any rate it looks like a private business doesn't have to accept payment like that. http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/faqs/Currency/Pages/legal-tender.aspx

If it weren't for sales tax I don't think we would even need coins anymore. There isn't too much you can buy that costs less than a dollar anymore.

Gold and silver used to be the only acceptable means of paying debt.

That and vageenas.

This is life in the brave, new world, where I sit wasted and stabbing the keyboard.  I won't have transportation the next day or two. Till then this is what I get to call fun.

this guy sued the nypd for stop and frisk, and the court tossed his case because he couldnt identify the plain clothes cops who frisked him.

so the court ordered him to pay $800 court costs to nypd lawyers...

http://tsaoutofourpants.wordpress.com/2014/03/05/nypd-court-costs-paid-with-20000-coins-change-we-can-believe-in/

so he paid in coins and a few dollar bills.

Phaq -

Dr Bobs office does way more than just MM certs.

they are specialists in pain management and cannabis therapy is only one part of their larger health care strategy.

they offer many types of pain management strategies including opioid replacement therapy.

would you go to your cardiologist or oncologist and demand they be your family doctor and take care of all your other medical needs?

no i think not.

please do not harsh on Dr Bobs office for not taking you on for regular medical needs...  thats not fair.

no specialist in any field would.

Zap

i agree that LARA could and should allow both paper and electronic systems... there is no reason why both would not be able to run in harmony with each other.

What, pray, hospitals does Townsend have admitting privileges to?

I know several doctors that will review a patient for marijuana consideration. All of them work in regular practices, hospitals, clinics full time, and do this as a second job. Often an enterprising office manager will rent an office and offer employment to doctors who are moonlighting for extra money. I think all of them make much more money and much less political/employment risks when a person comes to their office for examinations, compared to 75-100 bucks for their second job appointments. not sure, but that's what I think.  The issue comes when a physician is willing to rec mj the insurance complainees  will no longer work with the physician for payment. I suspect Dr Bob does not accept insurance at his practice ?

No. He does not accept insurance. Please prove me wrong.

I am unable to prove my supposition. but you already know.

I suspect if he did no mj certs in his office, but instead di them down the road part time, he would have no issues

accepting insurance for office calls, at the main biz. I really don't know first hand though, and only repeat what I've

learned from a handful of certification doctors.

I would guess you are correct GM.  With marijuana being schedule I, recommending it is likely against every insurance company's contract terms.  They will no sooner cover marijuana related visits than they would any other visit that recommends anything that is against federal law.  An insurance company likes to keep its money and this is an easy out for them.

yep, and they most likely will not work with a doctor office that recommends medical marijuana=the point

otherwise doctors would be doing this in their normal business hours in their normal doctor office, some patients covered by their insurance, mj pays cash. havent seen that yet.

My doctor has a regular family practice. When I go for non-cannabis related treatment the insurance pays. (physical therapy, physicals etc.)

They won't pay for cannabis related office calls though, I have to pay out of pocket for certification visits.

Please just answer the question. It is something pertinent to know for those who might want to treat with him. This has nothing to do with calling you out, unless you insist on hiding the facts. I am not somehow wrong.

Thank you.

I think any pt that wants treatment from dr bob would probably do what they do with any dr and call ahead to see if they accept your particular insurance. If they did that then they would get their answer.

Greg why do you hate on dr bob so much? I see it in archived threads I read but I haven't come to any conclusion as to why.

Aww. You obviously missed him insulting me over a medical condition. Then there are his positions against the interests of patients and caregivers regarding the affirmative defense, which he declares is something less than what is spelled out in the law. His complete agreement with the COA in Hartwick/Tuttle is intended to put caregivers in jail for reasons that should fall to physicians instead.

Next question?
