Hello, Questions On Michigan Reciprocity

Hello everyone,

My mother underwent surgery to remove a tumor in her brain and we found out that it is a glioblastoma multiforme.  The prognosis is not good for someone with that brain cancer as it keeps coming back with only the traditional chemo / radiation treatments.  We have read about studies and people who have used CBD oil to stop the growth of the tumor with success and live for a much longer time.  We feel that with a combination of a change in her diet (she already eats healthy), using CBD oil, and the chemo / radiation, she will have a much better chance of surviving longer.

Now since we live in Wisconsin and can legally posses medical cannabis with a physicians approval, but have no way to obtain it legally, I am trying to figure out how to use the Michigan reciprocity for this as I believe that this is what she needs to do.  Is there anybody on here who can help me figure this out?  I already sent this to the contact link on this site to contact the MMMA, just want to see if anyone can help before they get a chance to look at that request next week.

Thank you for any help i can get on this.

Very sorry to hear of your mothers' suffering.  It breaks my heart.

I hope someone with more knowledge than I about this will chime in here.  As I understand the law. it is

unfortunate even though MI does have medical marihuana reciprocity, it is illegal to have the oil in which you seek.

reading the wisconsin law,

http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2013/related/acts/267.pdf

SECTION 2. 961.38 (1n) of the statutes is created to read:

961.38 (1n) A pharmacy or physician approved under s. 961.34 (2) (a) or (b) may dispense cannabidiol in a form without a psychoactive effect as a treatment for a seizure disorder or any physician may provide an indi-vidual with a hard copy of a letter or other official docu-mentation stating that the individual possesses cannabi-diol to treat a seizure disorder if the cannabidiol is in a form without a psychoactive effect.

whatever marijuana you get here in michigan will probably have thc in it, and thus illegal in wisconsin.

the laws are a little messed up here in michigan, as currently anyone who transfers medicine to a non-connected patient is violating the act. since your mom is a visiting qualified patient, its not easy to register her as a connected patient with our registry.

the letter from the dr is as good as a card here. it may protect her in mi (but if it has thc, not in wisco).

you might need a letter from her dr that says you are her caregiver for this medicine in order for you to possess marijuana legally here in mi (and probably in wisco too, get that letter).

i'm not sure what part of wisco you are in, for now i'm going to assume you will be traveling to the upper peninsula?

you might be able to connect or find caregivers or compassion clubs (or even a dispensary) in the upper peninsula which will be able to get your mom her medicine.

did you already try finding some groups in wisconsin ? theres a NORML in wisco, http://www.winorml.org/ and northern wisco https://www.facebook.com/NorthernWINORML

theres a NORML activist who helped a bunch of wisconsin residents relocate to michigan. he maybe useful to contact, https://www.facebook.com/JaySelthofner and https://www.facebook.com/NorthernWINORML

notsure if this is still active number, but if not, contact him via fb, contact Jay Selthofner at 920.410.2920 or email jay@selthofnerconsulting.com.

good luck , and feel free to ask more questions.

i'm going to try to pre-emptively answer some questions you will ask:

cbd works better when combined with thc. "the entorage effect" good article about marijuana summarized in part here http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3165955/

high-cbd strains have the following names: ac/dc , harlequin, cannatonic, charlottes web (and a few others i forgot, "r4" maybe?.) some have thc, some have low amounts of thc.

cannabis oil is probably the best way to fight the cancer (vs smoking or vaping), you can find more info on youtube or phoenixtears website.

http://www.cancernet.nci.nih.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/cannabis/healthprofessional/page1/AllPages#_73_toc

finally, in theory, if your mom can find a place to rent in michigan, her letter from her dr (if , like the law says is equal to a michigan card) should allow her to grow 12 plants here in michigan. growing your own plants IS the cheapest way to obtain the marijuana. so if you have friends or relatives here in michigan, kick that idea around.

edit:had to fix urls

Thank you for the quick replies.  I will look into winorml and the person you suggested.  We are located in Madison (southern WI), but as business owners and the fact she is not going to want to leave her family to move to Michigan, we are stuck here.  I overlooked the no thc part of the law.  Probably need some sleep.

I have seen that the cbd work best in tandem with thc.  What I have seen is the thc kills the cells and the cbd stops the growth.  I am assuming that it is going to take some time for us to get cannabis oil in MI, if we can.  So does anyone know if the CBD oils that are made from industrial hemp that you can get on Amazon worth anything in the meantime?
