A lesson in what not to do......

While i was sick i wasnt taking care of my garden and 2 of the BD got very damaged. I know exactly what caused it and will always remember.

When I watered I wasnt giving them enough to get a good amount of run off as i usually do. Plant 1 and 2 took damage but plant 3 did not because it was always the first one I watered and i tended to give it more each time. By the time i got to watering the other two, I was out of energy and had to give them just enough to survive.

So, its obvious to me that the salt build up really messed with them and i will always be careful to avoid doing it again.

Grow Comments-

This has got to end!

I have finally had it with my grow method of burning the tips to find the limits of what the plants can take.  It usually just ends up hurting the plants because i go too far and burn the crap out of them.

From now on, my policy is to keep them as green as possible the entire grow, without burning the tips. I"m sure that to some degree I have hurt the quality of all my plants lately and I intend to put an end to it once once and for all.

I thought that perhaps these plants were finicky and difficult to grow but by the end of the grow, I felt the problems were pretty much all of my own making.  By the time the plants finished, two out of the three looked terrible and the 3rd was damaged but not terribly so.

I should mention that despite all the stress i put them under, not one of them threw a single nanner. Pretty stable.

It will be a pleasure to go back and run these from seed again and hopefully dial them in and really nail the grow.

Flavor Comments-

It's not a candy like berry flavor but it definitely has a sweet taste which reminds me of Exodus Cheese and a few other strains i've tasted over the years. While it's not as robust in flavor as strains like Chemdawg, ECSD, or, Bubba Kush, it is still strong enough to be a good counterpoint to those types of flavors.

And, underneath the sweetness, is a spicy incense type smell that really lingers.

The smell it leaves in a room after smoking is so nice that I find myself walking in and out of the room just to smell it again.  Very Nice!

A welcome flavor to my garden!

Comments-

There were two phenotypes in my batch and both were similar in buzz profile, however, the first plant to finish (plant 2) was the best all around.  I found both to have an "up" motivational type high which is just what i need lately. The mood enhancement is quite noticeable after only a few hits.

My favorite morning ritual this time of year is to sit on my back porch with my cat, whilst having my morning coffee and enjoying a fine smoke.

I put the headphones on a crank whatever music I'm in the mood for that day and just let everything go.

For those fleeting moments, I can let all the day to day worries and pain leave my body, and truly feel relaxed, alive, and happy.

But, only if I have the proper smoke.

It has to have the right amount of head to body high ratio and BD fits that bill very well. In fact, I would probably put it in my top 5 early day/morning smokes.

For the experienced smoker it is strong, but not over powering, and it really puts a smile on your face.

Final Comment-

I wasn't able to pull the yield I thought i would but I would guess thats because I didn't keep them very healthy. Having said that, the yield was nothing to sneeze at and I ended up with enough to satisfy my patients and myself.

One of my patients describes it as " Sweet, happy fun time, pot", and i would agree.

And so, it's easy to understand why this is popular with patients at California dispensaries because it gets you "high" not "stoned".

I've been a professional musician for over 30 years so you can understand that i love music and that it is a part of me in a very real way.  But, these days I rarely get to sit and actually listen to someone else's music for enjoyment purposes. When i do get that chance, I want the correct MJ to enhance my experience and BlueD is one of the best. I can't say how other people experience music but for me, I nearly become a part of it.

I can feel it and almost see it moving around me (very hard to explain), as shapes and colors. I feel like Im floating around inside the music.  It is quite an incredible feeling and Im very thankful when i find a good smoke that really stokes creativity and enhances the effect. The BlueD gets me to that state very fast and that makes me very happy.

Medical qualities:

Creativity/Mood Enhancement

Pain

Nausea relief

I'm a little short on cash these days so I could only test one of the plants and I picked P3. I wish i would have picked one of the others but the test results should be pretty indicative of this strain, give or take a few percentage points.

Great report with lots of details and pics.   Two questions regarding the report:

1. Lighting?  What was the lighting?  I see what looks like  MH and HPS bare bulbs hanging vertical.    Was the lighting just these verticals, or were they side lighting?   Wattage per plant?

2. Ferts?  You list pro mix, but no ferts listed, but you describe a salt build up.  What ferts were you using and at what level that they caused the burning?

Sorry for the lack of detail.

Lighting-

2 X 600 watt HPS

1 X 600 watt MH

All hung vertically.

20-10-20 (citrus)

10-30-20 (Blossom Booster)

Im doing the drain to waste method so i feed nutes almost every time i water.

I feed at a pretty low rate. Between 250 and 450ppm. I think the problem was caused by waiting too long to flush. I was always flushing around week 2-3 of flower and for now on Im going to flush in the first week. I did that with my Endless Sky plants and they look great.
