slipstar059
http://m.bbc.com/news/technology-31296188 Samsung is warning customers to avoid discussing personal information in front of their smart television set. The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature. Such TV sets 'listen' to every conversation held in front of them and may share any details they hear with Samsung or third parties, it said. Privacy campaigners said the technology smacked of the telescreens, in George Orwell's 1984, which spied on citizens. The full story is interesting, recordings are sent to a 3rd party that then transcribes the info. They said the transcriptions aren't sold. Think about the things you say to your wife, "what's the credit card number?" During tax season "whats your social number?" Not to mention all the HIPPA violations. YesMichigan
Whenever I hear AMC say "Start your two-screen experience now" it reminds me of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 where the books are burned and everyone surrounds themselves with TV screens the moment they come home from work because those are their "Friends" - I always chuckled at the name of that show and the millions who played out a 1953 novel in real-time. Listening and intercepting. If Samsung can do this - think of what the US Government can already do... Gotta lock us down and keep us "Safe", heck one or two of us might try thinking for ourselves and we know the carnage that uncontrolled thoughts can lead to.
