Most of the probiotics are dairy or fermented foods.  I am allergic to mold and have been advised away from fermented foods.

I instead control inflammation by alternating tumeric powder, fresh ginger root and cinnamon in warm water

with 1 fresh squeezed lemon and 1T locally sourced honey.  I have been doing this each morning for about

1 month now and do not ache as I did prior.  I rarely eat dairy, gluten or meat and instead eat many whole

foods purchased at the local farmers mrkt.  I also do not consume soy beans in any fashion due to most

being gmo and... soy messes with women's hormonal balance (don't need that! ;) ).

I have also been choosing foods that are alkaline and not acidic.  Lemon strangely enough is alkaline inducing

and an awesome food all around.

Soy Sauce is what's left after fermenting Miso and Soy sauce contains msg.  Again... personally, I skip all soy products :)

 

 

Noodling around the nets there are several sources for natural ways to consume enough pro and prebiotics.

Ferment your own vegetables. Simplest is to pound cabbage with salt and let set on the counter for 5 to 30 days. Mercola.com has a good tutorial. Making your own kefir from "kefir grains" is awesome. Both are far Superior to anything you can buy.

I visited the first link...Wow ! thanks for that. A wealth of knowledge in a few words. I'm so on it ! I used to eat home made cabbage at my grandmas house every time we visited weekly. She always had a stinking tub of it in the basement. I loved it and always took some home for later. Now, because of you, I'm going to get my own stink on !

 

Secondly, I never heard of Kefir grains before this. very interesting history.

Ganoderma applanatum(Artist's Conk).  Related to Reishi mushrooms and grows all over Mi.  Makes a really good tea.  Great anti inflammatory properties and antimicrobial(good at killing candida) too.

Hen of the Woods(Grifola frondosa) also has anti inflammatory properties(not to mention anticancer and tumor).  It's coming into season now and can be huge(over 50 lbs).  It's one of the few mushrooms that can be directly frozen without any cooking or parboiling and can also be dried.  Can be eaten raw(powdered into caps without cooking).  Consult a Dr. before taking if you are on diabetic meds.  This mushroom can reverse diabetes or make it so you don't have to take your meds or reduce them drastically.

Wow, Reishi tea is going to be a standard nightly drink here.  I didn't realize that my back problems and gas pain at nite was caused by inflammation(whether it be candida or some other bad bacteria).  Had the best nite sleep in weeks and woke up feeling like a million bucks.  No waking up in the middle of the nite with gas pains(back pains) and no lower back problems when I woke up.  Can touch my toes without wincing and cracking!  I recommend it highly. 

I backed off on the cannatonic caps because I was focusing on them curing the anxiety, I didn't realize they were taking care of inflammation for me also.

So I pounded my cabbage with (real) salt, used a mason jar and a loose fitting lid. Everyday I jammed it down into its own brine and in a couple days it was good, a few days later even better ! I haven't even cooked the slaw before eating it yet, just chomping raw(ish) with pleasure. I have a bunch of them going now with all kinds of different vegetables. no fancy equipment necessary. If mold is an issue I suggest covering the vegetables with more brine(salt/filtered water. Do not use unfiltered well or tap water. Clean jars with a bleach spray and rinse well. The stuff is ancient awesome!

I am designing my 1st. herbal container garden for outdoors come Spring. I plan to plant a wide

diversity of healing herbs. My reason is for this is 3 fold... herbs to consume for my health, for my

compost health which in turn provides for all green things I grow and gardening is great therapy.

 

What I've discovered is that some of these marvelously healthy herbs/ plants are invasive. 

Please do your research especially if like me, you have limited space or you just don't want your

space taken over by one or two aggressive plants.
