Senate Passes Bill Letting Veterans Access Medical Marijuana

Now it has to be signed by the president, and if it finally makes it, what will this really mean for veterans? Will veterans be able to use medical marijuana in conjunction with opioid medications or will the VA still be so close minded as to say no, either one or the other, despite the fact this would greatly benefit many veterans if co-administered?

What are your opinions?

seems to me that the gubment encouraged opiate use compared to (paraquat) marijuana use in Vietnam. Still they encourage opiate use compared to cannabis use.  Maybe more cash made supplying poppy opiates than cannabis to veterans all along. Soldier like armed men treat cannabis users like terrorists, while they guard the poppy fields from theft.   duhh......we so stupid sometimes

H.R.4974, Sec. 523:

None of the funds made available by this Act may be used to implement, administer, or enforce Veterans Health Administration directive 2011–004 (or directive of the same substance) with respect to the prohibition on “VA providers from completing forms seeking recommendations or opinions regarding a Veteran's participation in a State marijuana program”.

So I guess all this means is that the VA primary care provider can talk to the veteran about, and recommend medical marijuana, and also complete the forms necessary for a veteran to obtain his/her card form the state in which they preside. I am assuming the VA will come out with a new directive that will limit the providers new ability, while restricting the patients access as much as possible, within the language of the amendment, because that is how they roll!
