Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), also known as chronic myelogenous leukemia, is a type of cancer.

With or without pain associated with the CML,  the disease is listed in the qualifying conditions below.

 

Specific Medical Conditions listed in Statute:

“Debilitating medical conditions" [section 3 (a) (1)] means any of the following conditions and/or their treatments:

 

* Cancer

* Glaucoma

* Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus

* Acquired immune deficiency syndrome

* Hepatitis C

* Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS - Lou Gehrig's Disease)

* Crohn's disease

* Agitation of Alzheimer's disease

* Nail patella

Chronic myelogenous leukemia typically affects older adults. It's caused by a chromosome mutation that occurs spontaneously. Doctors aren't sure what causes the mutation.
Many people don't develop symptoms until later stages and the diagnosis is only made through routine blood work. When symptoms do occur, they include bleeding easily, feeling rundown or tired, weight loss, pale skin, and night sweats.
