a guy dont take 1 mil and make it billions a few times over and not know what he is doing,

Trump inherited control  of the Trump family organization worth about $200 million in 1974, and invested heavily in Manhattan. Back in 1974, $200 million was worth something: close to $800 million in today’s money.

Manhattan real estate values were plummeting at the time.

But Trump writes “frankly, I saw the city’s trouble as a great opportunity for me.”

Trump may have done some great deals; or he may not have. It did not matter.

Manhattan real estate took off in a spectacular fashion — average land prices(not building) went up by well over 6,000% between 1973 and the present day.

That means Trump could have bought pieces of Manhattan real estate at random — and at fair market prices without bothering to negotiate — and still achieved those returns.

but before the election  when hillary seemed to be leading the market was up!  explain that please,,,,,,,the market went sky high after the elction was won by trump!

Be glad to. Many folks see the market as a 'whole' and just watch the total results of all the stocks. Then you have the sectors that can offset each other and make the total up and down be hidden. The market was up after the second Comey intervention because trade with other countries was not in danger if she won. Stocks that have international exposure were up and happy.

The stocks that are up now are stocks that follow an R agenda. Major drug companies and large banks are booming because the D's have been keeping them from getting out of control and harming us all. Now the stock market thinks there's no restrictions to business. No one watching drug prices like Hillary was. No one watching the big banks take advantage of us and also getting too big again, like in the '08 recession. No one pushing for restrictions to help with climate change. All those irresponsible 'ways' help big business and dirty business. That's why they are going up. It's like the adult supervision went away and the kids get to have a huge party now. The 'house' will probably get trashed or even burn down but we are going to have a Great Party! Party down. If you've got stocks or mutual funds you get to party down. The little guy gets to breath dirty air and watch the sun get blocked out by thermal inversion. And pay higher drug prices. Get flogged by the big banks. Stuff like that.

And he lost a billion in the one year where we see his tax returns. He could be broke for all we know.

Just so you Hillary nuts remember, you are the LOSERS!

Maybe you can run Donna Brazile or Bernie Sanders in 8 years haha.

Do you even have a party left? You lost everything, even the down ballots!

I'm all for rooting for Trump's success. Defining 'success' isn't easy though. We have different ideas of what success for America is. So I'm more for rooting for America's success, if that fits with Trump's success then it's all good.

A vote for trump was a vote for anti cannabis republicans!

I think that's the most important post I've read in this thread. It can't be refuted. It stands on it's own. It's the most relevant issue in the context of this website. You would think that people who take the time to post here would think that the marijuana issues was important to them. Would shape their vote. We should have been 100% unitied here and just busting to get to the polls and proud to vote for marijuana(Hillary). But we had all kinds of apathy here gumming up the works. People who are not solid advocates for marijuana posting here over and over. Just blathering. It's very disappointing.

Hey smallbiz,... at least post the title of the article and the first paragraph when doing a posting. Thanks.

The Republican Party Votes No On Medical Marijuana at RNC – Goes Full Reefer Madness

During the platform meetings of the Republican National Conference, delegates voted not to endorse medical marijuana in their party’s official platform. During the spirited debate, opposition managed to bring up some of the classic reefer madness talking points to justify their votes.

Delegates in favor of the proposition spoke of the numerous lives being helped by the implementation of medical marijuana, as well as the children that “are being saved” by hemp products that have had success where other prescription pills could not.

However, opposition quickly arose and numbers grew quickly. A member from Utah claimed scientists have a “long way to go with research” on marijuana and argued that studies, which she did not provide, showed a link between it and mental health issues.

Another delegated added to the debate that people who commit mass murders are “young boys from divorced families, and they’re all smoking pot.” Yet another claimed a linkage between consuming marijuana and the triggering of schizophrenia. Most telling though, was the justification from one Republican that the measure should be opposed because it is funded nationally by Democrat and New York financier George Soros.

Pro-medical cannabis delegates attempted to fight back. “It’s not like we’re talking about Cheech and Chong here, folks. We’re talking about allowing people with debilitating conditions to ease their suffering,” Maryland delegate Ben Marchi said.

The proposal was too close to call by voice vote, but failed upon second vote.

Meanwhile, the Democrats finally endorsed a “reasoned pathway to future legalization” of marijuana and called for marijuana to be reschedule under the Controlled Substances Act.

I think we have The Red Line between a real marijuana advocate and a fake. Some of us made the point before the election. It was clear. People make their choices and have to live with those choices and other's perception of them if they flaunted their vote. If you voted for anyone but Hillary Clinton you are not a real marijuana rights advocate. You are just a fluffy faker. Marijuana rights are not that important to you if you didn't vote for Hillary Clinton.

so you're saying, hillary clinton, the known marijuana prohibitionist, that would continue to keep marijuana illegal for everyone, was a better choice than gary johnson or jill stein, both of whom have marijuana legalization as priorities in their policies?

It's like you had $5 in your pocket and you had the choice between a hamburg and a shiet sandwich, your $5 wasn't going to buy you some lobster so ordering lobster just was not really a choice, because if you asked for lobster the default was the shiet sandwich FOR EVERYONE.
