Has anyone tried putting perlite at the bottom of their pots to improve drainage?

I was thinking about lining the bottom of my pots with  perlite to increase drainage, has anyone tried this?

No, not in coco. It shouldn't need more drainage. I used to do 2in of #4 in the bottom of my soil pots. It helped but decided it wasn't really necessary.

One thing i didn't mention about coco, is i always used a cloth pot or an air pot. Maybe coco needs more air flow around it? Coco drains awsome, just dont think drainage is your issue. Also coco plants seem to so best once they get a little root bound. You can grow big plants in a 3 gal, like 8-12oz, just need to know how to feed/water them
