Can I be a caregiver in Michigan with past marijuana related convictions?

Recommended Posts

So, I just finished reading how currently due to recent amendments to the MMFLA (Michigan Medical Marijuana Facility Act) a person with ONLY prior marijuana convictions are no longer disqualified from obtaining a license to grow and distribute marijuana. My question is does this also apply for persons interested in obtaining a license to become a medical marijuana CAREGIVER (allowed to possess plants)for a family member who is currently a registered patient in Michigan without a designated caregiver? Currently patients and caregivers fall under MMMA (Michigan Medical Marijuana Act), which prohibits people with prior drug related convictions from becoming caregivers. I'm unsure if I should allow someone to submit my name as a potential caregiver due to fear of denial/ legal ramifications. If anyone can clear this up for me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
