Barberry Tea Another Beneficial Herb Saved Me!

Recommended Posts

I would just like to share my experience with Barberry Tea. I use the tea only as a rinse for my sinuses and as a mouth wash. When it is drank, it has potent affects on the kidney function and so do your research and be careful about drinking any. Barberry bark contains a substance called barbain. The tea is yellow, and is a fabric dye. It stains everything so be careful not to stain your kitchen counter. Barberry root bark is very inexpensive, and I last purchased a pound of it on ebay for four dollars.

I make my sinus rinse tea by using one heaping teaspoon of the ground bark for every two cups of reverse osmosis filtered water. Bring water to a simmer, add the bark, and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Then, strain the bark from the water with a fine sieve or perhaps a cheese cloth. Just before I rinse with the tea I add kosher salt with some baking soda to make a saline solution.

For the actual rinse I use the Neilmed device which can be found at some major drug stores.

This tea has potent antibiotic function!! It knocked out a super bug that was in my sinuses. A bug so resistant that a prominent infectious disease specialist told me that I needed something besides Western medicine because he had exhausted the entire list of drugs on me, and indeed my bug had super selected making it even more aggressive.

I turned to alternative medicine and actually had decent results keeping my super bug at bay with the use of Oregano Oil. There were times I remember hopping around after putting that oil in my sinus rinse since it tends to burn. No such problem with Barberry tho, it is only pretty bitter to the taste and that is no big deal.

This tea may have benefits for others who are fighting infections elsewhere on the body. For example, it could be used to soak a foot or as a compress on a wound.

I thank the creator for Barberry and the other friendly herb that makes my day so much better.

With best regards, Tony
