Drug enforcement agents arrested nearly 20 people around the county Aug. 25, confiscating $750,000 worth of marijuana at various growing operations and marijuana dispensaries across the county. At a press conference the next day, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the state Legislature has to take notice of medical marijuana problems, or it will get further out of hand. Several protests by patients and caregivers were held around the county following the raids. The people arrested are still fighting charges in court. Municipal officials struggled to decide whether to establish moratoriums on medical marijuana. State Court of Appeals Judge Peter O’Connell urged Legislators to clarify the confusing law, passed by voters in 2008.

The people of Michigan need to 'vote it legal' as will happen in Washington State come 2012.
