Here is a soil mix I used for one of my grows with good success.

you will need the following

1 bag of green sand ( http://www.garden.com/garden-articles/what-the-heck-is-greensand/128/ )

1 bag of composted cow manure ( http://www.vegetablegardener.com/item/2427/using-manure-to-fertilize-your-garden/page/all )

Note the link refers to cow manure in general, Composted manure is best in order to save time.

1 bag of peat moss ( http://www.peatmoss.com/pm-veg.php )

mix 1/2 bag gn sand with the composted cow manure and about 1/4 a bag of peat moss.

once mixed well test it by taking a hand full and compressing it. When you open your hand it should slowly fall apart.

You may add your own nutrients as you see fit.

In my opinion, manure indoors draws in fungus gnats preety easily, and also, I would add a1/4 bag of perlite for better drainage. I have found a product that combats gnats completely! It's named Dr. Bronners peppermint hemp liquid soap. Add 1 drop per gallon of water. I have never seen anymore gnats since using this, and can find on eBay for about 9 bucks for 8 ounces in a plastic bottle.
