I have purchased used computers and new computers, and I would save my money and buy a decent quality new laptop. That's of course unless you find someone who has a really nice laptop that was minimally used and only a year old willing to sell for cheap! I know it's hard to wait longer and save more for it, but it's worth it in the end. I think you'll find once you start using your computer you'll find there are things you wish your computer could do but it can't because it's too slow or too old or doesn't have enough memory. Here's my logic:

Used laptop pros:

-Cheap.

Used laptop cons:

-Older, slower, not as capable

-No warranty. If it breaks the parts are more expensive than the computer!

-Dings, scratches, food in keyboard.

-It comes pre-loaded with viruses, bloatware, tracking cookies, the seller's web history of porn searches, etc. Yes, I know you can wipe the

hard drive but most people don't know how!

-Chances are the seller doesn't have the original software like discs to reinstall the operating system!

New laptop pros:

-It's new! You are the only person who has used it, and you know where it has been and what has been done to it!

-It's faster, more modern, more capable!

Cons:

-It cost more

Once you start using your laptop you'll find yourself doing a lot more than watching the occasional video on YouTube. Remember, they also double as a High Def LCD screen, so you can watch DVD's and Blu-Ray discs on your laptop. You can even hook up your laptop up to a HDTV and play games, stream Netflix, YouTube, etc. How about editing photos? Do you have a digital camera? Chances are, a new laptop will have the proper slot so you can just take the card out of the camera and pop it in your computer...
